Despite being one of Netflix’s strongest time travel shows, the British sci-fi thriller Bodies is often overlooked. With only eight episodes, it’s a great choice for a quick binge-watch. Because streaming services release so much content, some truly excellent shows inevitably get lost in the shuffle. A recent example is the 2024 Netflix mystery series Ripley.

This new take on Patricia Highsmith’s The Talented Mr. Ripley is possibly even better than the well-regarded 1998 film, but it was largely overlooked when it first came out. Looking back at Netflix’s hidden gems, it’s clear this isn’t an isolated case – shows like Maniac also didn’t get the attention they deserved.

Fortunately, the streaming service still offers these original shows, meaning viewers can always find them. Even if a second season of Bodies isn’t made, this time-travel mystery is worth watching for anyone who enjoys thrillers, complex sci-fi, or strong acting.

I was really surprised by Stephen Graham’s new show, Bodies, especially after seeing him in the realistic crime drama Adolescence. This one is totally different! It’s based on a graphic novel from 2015, and it’s a mind-bending story that follows four detectives investigating the same case, but in four different time periods – 1980, 1941, 2020, and 2053. It’s a really clever concept!

Stephen Graham Shines In Bodies

Detectives in different time periods all stumble upon the same mysterious body in Whitechapel. As they investigate, they uncover a huge conspiracy, but not before becoming entangled in a dark, realistic, and completely surprising mystery.

The series boasts a talented cast, but Kyle Graham’s performances as both Elias Mannix and Sir Julian Harker are particularly impressive. While he’s now receiving international acclaim for his work in Adolescence, Graham previously showcased his range and leading-man qualities in the complex, multi-timeline story of Bodies.

Bodies Is Definitely Worth Binging

I was completely hooked by Bodies! The plot moves so quickly, constantly throwing in surprises. It really works as a thriller – it’s sharp, you never see what’s coming, and it’s genuinely clever. But it’s not just a thriller; the sci-fi elements are fantastic, creating a future that feels disturbingly real. And honestly, what I loved most was how well-developed the characters were – their stories really drew me in.

Compared to the original story, the Netflix series Bodies keeps its complicated plot focused. This makes the main story more impactful and builds consistent suspense, making it one of Netflix’s strongest sci-fi shows so far.
