Tonight, the renowned Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto showcased his Fall/Winter 2025 collection, creatively reimagined with a focus on deconstruction, at the iconic Hôtel de Ville in Paris. Building upon ideas from his menswear line exhibited in January, he delved deeper into themes of disassembly, layering, and textile transformation to tap into his inner child’s imagination.
On the FROW, Chappell Roan, Michèle Lamy, and JID waited for the show to start, as subtle melodies filled the atmosphere. The initial outfit strutted down the runway, sporting Yohji Yamamoto’s iconic monochromatic design. Trousers with pinstripes were creatively transformed into a high-low skirt, tied with leather ropes, accompanied by a see-through turtleneck top and an airy leather jacket. Following this, coats were turned upside down and knotted at the waist, showcasing extra fabric, while designs with triangular panels were adorned with dangling cables.
Yamamoto chose purple as the prominent hue for his collection this season, showcasing it on redesigned car coats and boots adorned with flexibility. Fabric swatches of leather and wool were affixed to a makeshift dress on metal frames, accentuating the designer’s deconstructed elegance. The presentation progressed with leather bodices, ruffled dresses, and distressed outerwear before culminating. Lastly, several models strutted down the runway in minimalistic black coats, supporting one another kindly for a heartwarming conclusion.
Yamamoto opted for purple as the dominant shade in his collection this season, displaying it on reimagined car coats and boots that exuded mobility. Swatches of leather and wool fabric were attached to a makeshift dress on metal frames, emphasizing the designer’s deconstructed sophistication. The show continued with leather bodices, ruffled gowns, and worn-out outerwear before reaching its climax. Eventually, several models walked down the runway in basic black coats, aiding each other warmly for a touching finale.
