Yes, SPOILER is pregnant in Outer Banks (and the season 4 finale might have just revealed the baby’s name)

As a die-hard Outer Banks fan with over a thousand hours invested in the series, I must say that the latest twist in season 4 has left me absolutely stunned! Who would have thought that a baby would be the wildcard in this already action-packed drama? The foreshadowing was there, but I never expected it to unfold so quickly.

Who’d have ever expected that one of the craziest twists in Outer Banks season 4 would come in the form of a baby, yes, we said baby.

First off, let’s take a moment to set the stage before diving into the specifics of this surprising disclosure – although it may not be entirely unexpected given the hints strewn throughout the early episodes of the season. To avoid any potential spoilers ruining the experience for others, let me remind you that the following information may reveal key plot points. So, brace yourselves as we’re about to dish out some exciting details and share our reactions!

It appears the Pogue family is on the brink of an unforeseen expansion, as hinted in episode 7, “Mothers and Fathers.” The early discussions between Sarah and John B regarding starting a family serve as a prelude to the shocking discovery that Sarah is pregnant. Amidst the turmoil surrounding them, Sarah secretly takes pregnancy tests, with the results confirming her pregnancy. This means that John B and Sarah are on their way to becoming parents for the first time.

As a gamer putting myself in their shoes, it’s no secret that Sarah and I, John B, are thrilled and nervous about the latest news – we’re going to be parents together! It’s not hard to see why, considering our conversations about starting a family way back early in the season. Frankly, we never thought ‘someday’ would come this fast!

Since Sarah is just starting her pregnancy, there’s a lot of ground to cover, and it wouldn’t be honest if we didn’t confess that we’re feeling worried and apprehensive about her safely delivering the baby. The Pogues often find themselves in perilous situations, yet despite the updates she receives, Sarah remains unfazed and active.

Despite some concerns, we remain hopeful that this storyline serves as a foundation for Sarah and John B’s joyful conclusion, as the series approaches its end in its fifth and final season. Furthermore, the finale of season 4 appears to suggest that we shouldn’t be unduly concerned about Sarah miscarrying, given a particular scene which strongly hints at revealing the name of their future child.

Warning, season 4 finale spoilers ahead!

Yes, SPOILER is pregnant in Outer Banks (and the season 4 finale might have just revealed the baby’s name)

We’re 99% certain Sarah and John B will name their baby after JJ

In the second-to-last episode of the season, John B confides in JJ about him and Sarah’s joyful announcement that they are expecting a baby, asking JJ to serve as the child’s godfather. Instead of rejoicing with John B, an intoxicated JJ lashes out, telling John B that he will only ruin the child like their fathers ruined them both. As you might expect, John B isn’t too pleased with JJ’s reaction and the two have a physical altercation as a result.

Despite the fight being their primary concern, it became secondary as a sudden storm hit them unexpectedly. A towering wave struck their boat, causing Sarah to be swept overboard. Without hesitation, JJ jumped into the tumultuous waters to rescue her. Eventually, he managed to bring her safely ashore.

During the final episode of the season, while the group huddled together near a campfire discussing their strategy to find the Blue Crown, JJ shared an idea with everyone – his proposal for naming a newborn: JJ himself.

“Hey, uh, you know what’s a good name for a baby? JJ. Goes both ways, actually. If it’s a girl, if it’s a boy,” JJ tells his friends to which the group laughs, seeming to brush the suggestion off in the moment. However, the events of the finale seem to suggest that Sarah and John B will most certainly be naming their son or daughter JJ and that the scene around the fire was again an understated foreshadowing of what was to come.

In summary, the season 4 finale brought the most shocking and sorrowful twist yet in the series, with JJ’s tragic demise caused by a fatal stab wound at the hands of his father, Chandler Groff. After this heartbreaking event, the Pogues swore vengeance for their fallen comrade, promising a gripping final season filled with intensity.

In Season 5, the Pogues are determined not only to reclaim the crown from Chandler, but also to bring him to account for his crimes against their friend’s life. They seek justice and revenge, and we can expect this narrative to unfold throughout the season. Additionally, it is likely that one significant storyline in the final season will revolve around Sarah and John B welcoming a new baby into their family and choosing to honor their deceased friend JJ by naming the child after him as a touching tribute.

According to JJ himself, the name is versatile enough for both boys and girls, so whether they have a son or daughter, John B and Sarah’s baby will carry on JJ’s name. In truth, we can hardly think of a more suitable homage to John B’s cherished friend than his enduring presence in John B and Sarah’s child.

Outer Banks season 4 is streaming now on Netflix.
