Yes, even Travis Scott is in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’

Travis Scott is joining the cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, “The Odyssey,” marking another major achievement for the artist.

The rapper, who has been nominated for a Grammy, unexpectedly appeared in a new commercial for Christopher Nolan’s latest movie. The ad aired during Sunday’s NFL AFC Championship game between the Patriots and the Broncos. It’s worth noting that Scott is already a well-known figure in popular culture.

The short teaser shows Jason Scott’s character speaking to a group in a dark hall. Jon Bernthal, playing Menelaus, and Tom Holland, as Telemachus, are shown listening to him.

Tickets for Christopher Nolan’s new movie, based on ‘The Odyssey’, are available now in the immersive Imax 70mm format, over a year before the film hits theaters.

In a dramatic moment, Scott’s character declares, “It was a war, a man, a deception—a trick to conquer Troy!” He emphasizes his words by striking the ground with his staff, adding, “A city consumed by fire and destruction.” The footage also includes glimpses from earlier trailers, hinting at the battles to come and Odysseus’ long journey back home.

Nolan’s movie, inspired by Homer’s epic poem, features Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, during his journey home from the Trojan War. Anne Hathaway plays his wife, Penelope, and Holland portrays their son, Telemachus. The film also boasts a star-studded cast including Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, and Will Yun Lee.

This isn’t the first time Travis Scott and Christopher Nolan have worked together. Scott previously created the song “The Plan” for Nolan’s 2020 movie, “Tenet.”

In a 2020 interview with GQ, director Christopher Nolan explained that Scott’s musical input was the last essential element needed to complete the film. Nolan praised Scott’s ability to quickly understand and contribute meaningfully to the musical and storytelling approach that he and composer Ludwig Göransson had been developing, describing his contributions as insightful and profound.
