Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly reveals Beth Dutton trait she won’t miss
As a die-hard fan who has been glued to my screen every Sunday (or Monday, if I’m in the UK) for the past five seasons, I can honestly say that Kelly Reilly‘s portrayal of Beth Dutton on Yellowstone has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Her character’s extreme smoking habit is one thing I won’t miss, though. It’s not just the smoke in my face and throat; it’s the constant reminder that this fiery, fierce woman is slowly killing herself. I want Beth to live! I’ve even taken her lighter and cigarette box home as a keepsake, just in case Taylor Sheridan decides to bring her back from the brink.
Actress Kelly Reilly, known for her role in Yellowstone, disclosed the one aspect she’s least looking forward to reprising as her character Beth Dutton.
Today, November 11, saw the highly anticipated second part of season five make its debut on Paramount+ in the United Kingdom, signifying the end of Taylor Sheridan’s beloved Western series that has won over fans.
At the New York City premiere of the show’s final episodes on November 8, Reilly told Entertainment Tonight that she feels relieved now that Beth’s intense smoking addiction is no longer a part of her character.
She might quit smoking someday, as I find the habit intolerable, especially when it comes to those herbal cigarettes. The smoke seems to invade both your face and your respiratory system.
“But I want Beth to want to live, and smoking, the way she does it, is so extreme and it’s just gonna kill her. So, I want her to find a reason to be like, ‘I love my life, life is beautiful’.”
Although Reilly dislikes Beth’s smoking habit, she admitted that she’s brought her character’s lighter and cigarette case home, storing them securely for potential future use.
In another part of the conversation, the actress spoke about her time working on the set of Yellowstone, referring to it as a “massive thrill ride.
She mentioned, “I’m going to really feel their absence. For the last seven years, I’ve formed some incredibly tight bonds with these people. Although we’ll continue to meet, our daily filming sessions will no longer happen.
Working at Yellowstone each day provides an immense jolt of adrenaline. Each day brings new challenges, particularly this year. Many of the scenes I’ve had to perform were large-scale and intense.
Taylor Sheridan writes them with such elegance and passion, it’s a privilege to be part of the team. I’ll surely miss it as there’s nothing quite like it elsewhere.
After working on various jobs throughout the years, along with Yellowstone, Reilly expressed his eagerness to return, stating that “it feels like home” or “I find myself eagerly anticipating my return because they are my people. There’s just something about the smoothly functioning nature of it all.
Although the series has concluded, there are hints that a sixth installment might be on the horizon. For now, enthusiasts can anticipate the forthcoming spin-off show titled “The Madison“, scheduled for release next year.
The illustrious ensemble boasts Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J Adams from Suits, and Beau Garrett of Firefly Lane.
The fifth season of Yellowstone continues on Sunday, November 10th in the United States and a day later, on Monday, November 11th in the UK. You can catch it streaming on Paramount+.
