Yellowstone season 5B teases Kevin Costner exit in first-look trailer
As a devoted Yellowstone fan who has watched every gripping episode since its inception, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions as I prepare for the return of season 5 part 2 this November. The trailer’s ominous tone and the glimpses we get of our favorite characters, especially John Dutton, played by the legendary Kevin Costner, have me on the edge of my seat.
Yellowstone‘s upcoming season has teased Kevin Costner’s exit in a brand new trailer.
In simple terms, the much-anticipated second portion of season five is coming to Paramount+ in November, but the character played by John Dutton, portrayed by Kevin Costner, won’t appear as he has chosen to leave the series, a decision announced last year.
The just-unveiled trailer for the upcoming season on Instagram opens with Costner’s character speaking as a patriarch, saying: “Heritage. You create something valuable. Someone will try to seize it.”
As I go about my actions, it’s not just for the sake of the ranch. No, it’s something more profound – it’s for us, a statement that echoes deeply within me, much like Rip, portrayed by Cole Hauser, expresses in Yellowstone. Meanwhile, another scene unfolds where Beth Dutton, brilliantly played by Kelly Reilly, subtly draws a knife, hinting at her unwavering determination and resilience.
In another instance, Jamie Dutton (portrayed by Wes Bentley) cautions Beth, saying, “You bring about my downfall, and you self-destruct,” to which Beth responds, ” differential from you, I uphold my commitments.”
Last year when I learned about Kevin Costner’s departure from Yellowstone, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness. However, the news wasn’t all grim as the show later shared that they were planning to wrap up the storylines in season five.
Meanwhile, there has been significant news about the next chapter of the Western series beyond its fifth season. According to recent reports, talks are ongoing for a sixth season featuring Reilly and Hauser as the main characters.
It seems that several original cast members might appear again if there’s a sixth season, but Costner probably won’t be one of them. He has already ruled out any further appearances in the future.
Last year, he mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to complete seasons 5B and beyond, further explaining, “I deeply enjoyed it, and I believe you did too. Just wanted to inform you that I won’t be part of it anymore.”
Yellowstone resumes for its fifth season’s second half this coming Sunday, November 10, in the United States, and the following day, Monday, November 11, in the UK. You can catch it streaming on Paramount+.
