Yellowstone season 5 finale sets new series record
As a long-time fan of gripping western dramas and a dedicated follower of Yellowstone since its inception, I must say that the recent ratings for the season 5B finale have left me utterly astounded. The show’s ability to consistently deliver captivating storylines, complex characters, and stunning cinematography has kept me glued to my screen week after week.
Yellowstone‘s season 5B finale has scored the highest ratings in the show’s history.
Last Sunday night, on December 15, Deadline estimates that a total of 11.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the final episode, airing simultaneously on both Paramount Network and CMT.
Initially, that figure stood at approximately 13 million viewers. However, when additional viewing data (Live+3) came in, it increased to a grand total of 13.1 million viewers, and the average viewership rose to 13.6 million.
The 5A finale, which aired on January 1 2023, had 10.3 million Live + Same Day viewers.
In the second half of season five, it was Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton, who made a comeback on the hit series Yellowstone, before he planned to depart the show.
Kevin Costner informed his followers on Instagram as early as June that he wouldn’t be returning for season 5B and beyond, stating: “Sadly, I have come to terms with the fact that I won’t be a part of season 5B or any subsequent seasons.
“It had a profound impact on me, something I truly cherished, and I believe you felt the same way. Just wanted to inform you that I won’t be coming back anymore. The bond we’ve built is precious to me, and I look forward to catching up at the movies.
After Costner left, many believed that Yellowstone would end with its fifth season. Yet, fan enthusiasm surged in August when talks about a sixth season were revealed to be ongoing.
Although Yellowstone might be wrapping up, the Taylor Sheridan series boasts not one but two spin-offs – 1883 and 1923, with another one, yet unnamed, having been announced recently.
The Madison is set to star Michelle Pfeiffer and Suits actor Patrick J Adams.
In the heart of the Madison River valley, Central Montana becomes my temporary home as I immerse myself in a heartwarming tale about a New York City family. This story, deeply personal yet universally relatable, delves into the complexities of grief and the profound connections we forge with each other.
Yellowstone streams on Paramount+ in the UK.
