On December 18th, it was announced that the fourth season of the crime thriller “Mayor of Kingstown,” co-created by Sheridan, has been officially renewed on Paramount+. The series will see the return of Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, a role he played until the conclusion of season 3 in August 2024. According to Paramount+’s press statement, the show topped the streamer’s charts and was viewed by 8.8 million households during its third season run.

The story unfolds in the make-believe town of Kingstown, Michigan, where the McLusky family maintains order in the corporate town plagued by high incarceration rates. In season 3, Kingstown and its inhabitants are rocked by series of explosions, the arrival of the Russian mafia, and a drug conflict engulfing both sides of the penitentiary. At the same time, Mike encounters an unforeseen shock from his past that threatens to derail him.

Mayor of Kingstown season 4 is happening

By December 2024, there’s no clear sign from Paramount+ about when filming for season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown will start or even hint at a possible release date. However, given its previous production and release schedule, we can expect the new season to air sometime in 2025, possibly during the summer or fall months.

Based on Variety, it was reported in October that the writing team for Mayor of Kingstown had begun working on season 4, as Paramount+ anticipated renewing the series. It is common for streaming shows to start preparing for the next season before an official renewal, so it’s likely that a good portion of season 4’s stories have already been developed by the writers by the end of the year.

For approximately five months between May and October 2021, the initial season was filmed with a planned release date sometime between November 2022 and January 2022.

According to the patterns of the last two seasons, it is expected that filming for season 4 will commence approximately four months after the renewal announcements, which would suggest a start date in April, with production potentially lasting up to five months. If everything goes according to plan, the premiere might be in fall 2025. However, please note that these are just speculations. We’ll keep you updated as soon as official details are revealed.

The town mayor in Kingstown seems to have more solid plans ahead than Yellowstone, a series favored by many that recently ended its fifth season and may not return for a sixth.
