Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone, is now writing for the Tulsa King spin-off, with filming starting next month. The series, starring Samuel L. Jackson, originally titled Nola King, has been revamped. It’s moving production from New Orleans to Texas and will now be called Frisco King.
After Dave Erickson left the show due to scheduling issues, Sheridan joined the project, as reported by Variety. Variety also stated that filming for the eight-episode series is now expected to start in Texas in late March.
Russell Lee Washington Jr. first appeared as a memorable character in season three of the show that led to Tulsa King. He was initially sent to Tulsa with a mission: to kill Sylvester Stallone’s character, Dwight Manfredi, on behalf of a New York crime family. However, according to the show’s description, Russell ended up admiring what Dwight had built in Tulsa and became intrigued by the idea of starting over.
