Yellowjackets season 3 trailer teases Ella Purnell return

As a devoted fan who’s been following Yellowjackets since its gripping debut, I can barely contain my excitement as we gear up for Season 3! The return of Ella Purnell as Jackie, our beloved Queen Bee whose demise was thought to be final, has sent shockwaves through the fandom. And let me tell you, the suspense is killing me – will she appear as a ghostly apparition or in flashbacks? I’m on the edge of my seat!

The “Yellowjackets” crew is nearly ready to return for Season 3, and an unforeseen comeback from the previous Queen Bee Jackie, portrayed by actress Ella Purnell from the movie “Fallout,” will be a part of it.

It seemed unlikely that Jackie would make a return, as her audience presumed she had met her end permanently – in a rather unusual way – with her lifeless body being torn apart and consumed by her teammates.

The first, pretty meaty trailer for season 3 has hinted at the two timelines colliding when adult Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) starts seeing ghostly visions of her late bestie Jackie.

It remains unclear if the football team’s captain will materialize from Shauna’s imagination, appear in flashbacks, or serve as a narrator (as hinted by the trailer), but it’s definite that Purnell won’t be the sole guest star in the upcoming episode.

The video offers a sneak peek at Hillary Swank’s as yet nameless and severely injured character. Although specifics about her part are being tightly guarded, it can be inferred that she is being pursued by an individual whom she does not welcome.

Meanwhile, Elijah Wood is also back as citizen detective and Misty’s love interest Walter.

Ultimately, it seems we’re edging a little bit nearer to resolving the enigma surrounding Natalie, who was unmasked as the Antler Queen during season 2.

In the untamed wilderness of the ’90s, the tension was palpable. But it seems like the stakes are about to get higher for us, here and now.

In one scene, Shauna suggests someone is out to kill them, while Van (Lauren Ambrose) doubles down by saying that the only people who know about their huge secret from the woods are “either us or dead”.

Given their fondness for human taste, what other secrets might they conceal?

In just a couple of months from now, the worldwide release of the initial two episodes of season 2 will take place on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

Yellowjackets airs on Showtime in the US and Paramount+ in the UK.
