Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in first look at new Disney show releasing in 2025
As a Marvel enthusiast with over two decades of comic book adventures under my belt, I can confidently say that this latest lineup is nothing short of spectacular! From the return of Sir Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery to the exciting debut of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams in Wonder Man, Marvel seems to have pulled out all the stops.
After releasing the final episode of “Agatha All Along” on Disney+, Marvel is excited to share that an abundance of shows are scheduled for release on the streaming platform in the upcoming year.
Disney unveiled a preview showcasing various upcoming productions, including the streaming debut of Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s role in Wonder Man.
Developed by Destin Daniel Cretton, director of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings”, this series introduces Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a talented stuntman and actor endowed with extraordinary abilities, who tries out for a superhero role in a television production.
In a twist of events, it’s Sir Ben Kingsley reprising his character Trevor Slattery, who finds himself once more entangled in a web of trouble. While he isn’t featured in the trailer, it’s worth noting that Josh Gad from the movie “Frozen” is also part of this new cast.
Additionally, there’s Ironheart carrying on Riri Williams’ tales, who made her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Daredevil: Born Again resumes from where the Netflix series ended, with several actors reprising their roles. However, since it now falls under the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, there might be some differences compared to before.
In addition to that, there are four more animated series coming up ahead too. “What If…?” will be back for its third and last season this holiday season, and “Marvel Zombies” is set to spin off from it, arriving just in time for Halloween next year.
In “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” we follow a younger version of Peter Parker embarking on his Spidey journey, but this isn’t the same Peter as in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the other hand, “Eyes of Wakanda” delves into the tales of T’Challa’s ancestors and the hidden kingdom they governed across different historical periods.
Wonder Man is currently set to premiere on Disney+ in December 2025.
