Y/Project Lives On With Heaven by Marc Jacobs

Attention all enthusiasts of Y/Project: Get ready for a gritty streetwear team-up between Heaven by Marc Jacobs and the revitalized Paris fashion label! It will be brimming with the label’s signature twisted style elements, and you can grab it starting March 25.

2 years was spent creating this collection, as stated by Heaven on Instagram, implying that it represents (possibly the final) work of Y/Project’s previous creative director, Glenn Martens, who is now overseeing Maison Margiela.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, Gilles Elalouf, owner of Y/Project, passed away in June. The brand cancelled its Paris Fashion Week show in September, as they were having trouble finding a buyer. At the same time, Martens resigned as the creative director. An attempt to sell the label in October was unsuccessful, and by January, it was officially confirmed that Y/Project had stopped functioning altogether.

Jacobs’ partnership with the closed label on Y/Project’s latest collection has come as a delightful surprise for the Y/Project fan base. The campaign, featuring Ken Carson and Alana Champion, combines elements from both brands such as shrunken hoodies bearing dual symbols, revealing knits, distorted denim pieces with exaggerated sleeves on jackets and bunched-up ankles on trousers – all reminiscent of the subtle rebelliousness that made Y/Project so popular among fashion enthusiasts. This collaboration serves as a fitting send-off for younger fans of the brand.

Online shopping for the Y/Project by Marc Jacobs collection starts on March 25th! Check out the previews of the lineup in the gallery above.
