South Korean brand XLIM is expanding its footwear collection, building on a recent collaboration with New Balance. They’ve now released two versions of the HOKA Mafate Speed 2, featuring unique color schemes. Known for its comfortable, durable design originally made for challenging environments, the shoe has been given a sleek, understated makeover by XLIM.

The first collaboration between XLIM and HOKA comes in two color schemes: all-black and a striking cobalt blue, appealing to both minimalist and bold tastes. The blue version is especially noticeable, inspired by the signature shades of artist Yves Klein. While HOKA’s Mafate Speed 2 is known for its modern, technical design with layered synthetic materials and a sculpted sole, XLIM designer Dohee Kim adds a touch of softness with suede accents and a discreet XLIM logo on the side of the toe.

The Mafate 2 is a versatile shoe designed for both trail running and everyday wear, balancing performance and style. It features durable Vibram Mega-Grip soles with deep treads for excellent traction on tough trails. Inside, a supportive foot frame and a carefully designed Meta-Rocker system work together to create a smooth and efficient running experience.

In issue 35 of TopMob Magazine, Dohee Kim of XLIM described their design philosophy: they don’t just chase trends or focus on how clothes look. Instead, XLIM aims to create comfortable, useful clothing that genuinely enhances the wearer’s day. Kim explained that this allows people to effortlessly combine practicality and style. To achieve this, XLIM develops its own materials, enabling them to build unique designs from scratch.

The XLIM x HOKA Mafate Speed 2 will be available starting April 18, 2026, both in-store at XLIM and online at their website.
