Xenomorphs on Earth: Bold new teaser for upcoming Alien FX series

As a seasoned gamer and long-time fan of the Alien franchise, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation as the newest addition to the series, Alien: Earth, approaches. With its earthbound setting and prequel status, this show promises to delve deeper into the lore that has captivated us for nearly half a century.

Approaching its half-century mark, the legendary science fiction horror franchise “Alien” continues to thrive. The latest addition to the saga, titled “Alien: Romulus“, has recently surpassed all others in the horror genre in 2024, grossing the most revenue, and promises further adventures for the Xenomorphs and the hapless humans who encounter them for our viewing pleasure.

The new FX series titled ‘Alien: Earth’ launched this week, which is created by the acclaimed showrunner of ‘Fargo’, Noah Hawley. Given its title, it will be a series set on earth, marking the first time for the franchise. Unlike previous films that were set in outer space, spaceships, derelict crafts, and other planets, this one will focus on earthly events.

Earth” appears to adopt a more realistic and straightforward storyline. The plot revolves around a team of researchers dealing with the consequences of a spaceship wreckage and its mysterious contents. This series is set 30 years prior to the original movie, making it a prequel. According to Deadline, “Alien: Earth” is described as an “imaginative reinterpretation” of the franchise.

The teaser is pretty simple, just showing a close-up of Earth that is then revealed to be reflected by a Xenomorph’s super shiny head. As the camera pans out, we hear a horrifying scream and see the alien’s terrifying mouth brimming with razor-sharp teeth and monster drool. The show’s tagline is, fittingly, “the perfect planet for the perfect organism.” If you saw Alien: Romulus in theaters, you might have been lucky enough to have seen the teaser early as it played during the previews in select showings.

Previously, FX President John Landgraf expressed that the network plans to focus significantly on Fredrik Ehrsam’s series, which is designed as an ongoing production. According to reports, Landgraf hopes that Ehrsam will write at least two seasons before considering a possible sixth season of Fargo.

The release date for the Alien: Earth series hasn’t been disclosed as of now, but it is anticipated to premiere on FX in 2025 and can only be streamed on Hulu. Starring Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Timothy Olyphant, and Adarsh Gourav.
