XDefiant is Not Shutting Down as Year 2 Plans Set to Go Ahead, Executive Producer Assures
As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen countless games rise and fall like the tides. The latest buzz surrounding XDefiant, Ubisoft’s free-to-play multiplayer Call of Duty rival, has me intrigued.
Based on recent whispers suggesting that XDefiant, Ubisoft’s free-to-play multiplayer game resembling Call of Duty, might be closing due to a lack of players, its Executive Producer has reassured the community that the game is far from over, and there are currently no imminent plans for XDefiant to shut down.
Recent whispers echo earlier concerns from last month suggesting that XDefiant’s decreasing player base could indicate the game is gradually fading, which Ubisoft previously denied. However, a well-known leaker named Shaun Weber suggested in a tweet that the game might cease updates after Season 4 if they don’t attract enough players.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share some exciting news that recently came from Executive Producer Mark Rubin himself regarding XDefiant. He’s addressed the buzz about its current status and reassured us that there are no plans whatsoever to shut it down after season 4. In fact, he’s been in meetings just last week discussing the Year 2 content! So, buckle up, fellow players, because we’re not done yet with XDefiant!
Rubin went on to say, “Currently, our main priority is enhancing the technical aspects of the game, particularly the netcode, and expanding content for Seasons 3 and 4. We’ve devoted minimal resources to marketing at this point, which explains the decrease in numbers. This is simply to allow our team enough time to make the game more polished before we invest heavily in marketing to attract new players and re-engage those who have stopped playing.
The second season of XDefiant officially launched on September 25th, introducing the Highwaymen faction that originates from Far Cry: New Dawn. It’s expected that we’ll see the release of Season 3 in the near future.
