XDefiant Adding New Far Cry: New Dawn Highwaymen Faction As Ubisoft Asserts That the Game is ‘Absolutely Not Dying’
As a dedicated gamer who has seen the rise and fall of numerous titles, I must say that Ubisoft’s assurance about XDefiant is a breath of fresh air. I have witnessed games with potential being abandoned too soon, and it’s heartening to see a developer commit to addressing issues and improving their game based on community feedback. The upcoming Highwaymen faction from Far Cry: New Dawn sounds like a thrilling addition, especially the Saw Launcher – imagine taking down opponents with flying buzzsaws!
As a passionate gamer, I’ve been noticing some buzz recently about XDefiant, the fantastic free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter from Ubisoft San Francisco. It seems there are whispers that our numbers might be dwindling, which has got me a bit concerned. But hey, I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best!
Ubisoft recently reassured fans about XDefiant’s future, stating unequivocally that the game is not on its deathbed. While they acknowledge areas for improvement such as improving the network code and adding more content to progression, they are confident in the game’s current status. Their goal is simply to make it even better. To achieve this, they plan to address community concerns, a strategy they have always followed. In fact, Ubisoft has increased resources for the development team to ensure they can deliver on these improvements.
For this purpose, Season 2 will commence in the coming week, introducing the Highwaymen group from “Far Cry: New Dawn”. This is a band of survivors dressed in biker attire hailing from Hope County 2035, who possess a ‘Revved passive trait that enhances their fire and reload speed following multiple kills. The Highwaymen are equipped with the M79 Grenade Launcher and Scrap Turret as their faction skills, while their Ultra ability is a Saw Launcher that fires ricocheting buzzsaws.
In Season 2, players can anticipate unlocking three additional weapons at no cost through the updated Battle Pass – the PP19 SMG, L86 LSW, and SPAS-12 semi-auto shotgun. Additionally, a fresh game mode called ‘Bomb’ will be introduced later in the season, along with Private Matches. In the Bomb game mode, two strategic locations serve as bomb sites, where the attacking team plants the bomb and the defending team tries to either thwart the planting or disarm it.
In the upcoming Season 2 of XDefiant, you’ll find a fresh map reminiscent of Hope County’s post-apocalyptic waterfront as seen in Far Cry: New Dawn. Additionally, we’re excited to announce that a Free-for-All game mode will be introduced at some point as well.
Season 2 of XDefiant kicks off starting from 25th September. For more details, check out the trailers provided below.
