Xbox System Software Update to Provide Support For External Hard Drives Over 16TB
Microsoft is planning to roll out an update for Xbox Insiders, which will provide compatibility for external hard drives boasting more than 16 Terabytes of storage capacity.
1) Users in the Alpha Skip-Ahead circle will get priority access to the forthcoming system software update ahead of others, with the rollout continuing over the next few weeks.
2) As per an Xbox Support post, support for external USB drives larger than 16TB is now available, ensuring your favorite games are always at your fingertips and ready to play!
Larger-than-16TB drives, freshly reformatted, will be segmented into several partitions. This partitioning allows for efficient allocation of space for games and applications. Consequently, these newly created sections will show up as separate devices when you view your storage devices list.
As games continue to grow in size, having more storage space becomes increasingly important. Frankly, the 1TB SSD on the standard Xbox Series X|S isn’t nearly sufficient. It’s great that they now support hard drives with capacities over 16TB, which is definitely a step in the right direction.
