Xbox Reportedly Ready to Reveal “New Entry in a Legendary Japanese IP”

It’s rumored that the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct live stream will spotlight a fresh installment of a well-known Japanese franchise.

That is according to Windows Central, who published a report on Microsoft’s gaming plans for 2025.

The live stream will reportedly include a trip to an unanticipated location where we’ll get a sneak peek at another studio’s freshly minted game. Additionally, it’s been hinted that this could be a new installment in a renowned Japanese franchise with a rich history spanning decades, which is sure to excite many fans.

It’s not entirely obvious what it might refer to. It could potentially be related to characters (Persona), a reinterpretation of the latest Final Fantasy VII remake, or something entirely different.

For quite some time now, Microsoft has been attempting to establish a foothold in Japan’s gaming market. Games like “Lost Odyssey” and “Blue Dragon,” which were released on the Xbox 360, are examples of their efforts in this direction. More recently, they have developed a partnership with Atlus.

According to Windows Central, it’s thought that this fresh game could continue that pattern. We should definitely tune in for the live broadcast next week, which airs on Thursday, the 23rd of January, at 10am Pacific Time, 1pm Eastern Time, or 6pm UK time.
