Xbox Handheld Could Be Coming in Late 2025 With Next-Gen Xbox Console to Follow in 2027 – Report

It seems we’ve been hearing rumors about Microsoft’s mysterious handheld Xbox for quite some time now. However, according to the latest report, Microsoft might kick off its next-generation plans with a portable PC gaming device this year, not exactly an handheld Xbox. A full-fledged next-gen Xbox is expected to be released in 2027 instead.

According to Windows Central’s latest report, the gaming handheld for partners is being secretly developed under the name ‘Keenan’, with a potential release expected towards the end of 2025. Moreover, it appears that the next Xbox Series X|S console is currently in full production and is aiming for a launch within the next two years.

As a passionate gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to hear whispers that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has given the go-ahead for the next-generation Xbox console. It seems this high-end successor to the Xbox Series X might veer towards a PC-like experience, potentially accommodating digital marketplaces like Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store. Intriguingly, it’s been suggested that this new console could be more of a PC than any previous Xbox model. Moreover, there are rumors that the handheld version could step into the shoes of the Xbox Series S, serving as a less powerful device. Interestingly, both versions might maintain backwards compatibility, allowing gamers to enjoy a wide array of titles from past generations.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft hasn’t spoken about the rumor yet, but there have been many articles and whispers about a potential portable Xbox. Given this persistent chatter, it appears plausible. However, Xbox head Phil Spencer mentioned it might still be “years away.” This latest report suggests it could debut in 2021, but we can’t trust everything we hear.
