Xbox Game Pass Officially Adds 2 New Day One Releases, Available Now

As a Game Pass subscriber, I’m always stoked to see what new games they add, especially when they drop on Day One โ€“ meaning we get to play them the same day they launch! And they just added two more games that did exactly that, both releasing today for us subscribers.

Two new games, Shift at Midnight and Tears of Metal, launched on July 22nd. Shift at Midnight is a horror game with a classic survival horror look and is available on consoles and PC for Xbox Game Pass members. Tears of Metal is currently only playable on PC.

Try to Survive the Night in Shift at Midnight

Shift at Midnight is an online game where up to three players team up for randomly generated work shifts. During these shifts, you’ll investigate customers, some of whom are secretly not human. To survive mistakes and dangerous situations, players can use traps and guns. The game’s art style is similar to , and some players feel this adds to the unsettling atmosphere.

In Shift at Midnight, your main job is to spot customers who aren’t human. You’ll need to act like a detective, checking IDs and watching for strange behavior. But you still have to do all the regular gas station tasks, like stocking shelves, unloading deliveries, helping customers, and keeping the place tidy. Each shift is different because the game randomly generates everything, so every playthrough feels fresh.

Take On Enemy Warriors in Tears of Metal

PC gamers with an Xbox Game Pass subscription can now play Tears of Metal from Paper Cult. The game lets you play alone or team up with up to three friends in co-op mode. Together, you’ll fight to take back a captured island alongside a Scottish army. Success means building up your forces by recruiting and upgrading troops, giving them powerful abilities. You can customize your gameplay even further by combining upgrades with over a hundred different artifacts, and soldiers will carry their skills forward between each campaign.

Tears of Metal features a distinctive art style that gives its characters a unique animated appearance. Similar to Shift at Midnight, the game can be quite violent, with battles leaving the environment covered in red. Its engaging combat and fast-paced action have made it enjoyable for many players, and early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.

Xbox Game Pass is updating its game library. On July 31st, eight games โ€“ Back to the Dawn, Celeste, Crusader Kings 3, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, My Friendly Neighborhood, Rain World, Sniper Elise: Resistance, and Whiskerwood โ€“ will be removed. However, two new titles are coming soon: Halo: Campaign Evolved will be available on July 28th, and Mistfall Hunter will be added on July 29th.
