Xbox Game Pass Could Reportedly Be Getting a Cloud-Only Tier and Possible Return of Friends & Family Plan
As a long-time Xbox Game Pass subscriber and avid gamer, I’m always on the lookout for ways to save money while still getting my gaming fix. The recent price hike for Xbox Game Pass has left me feeling a bit uneasy, but I’ve stayed subscribed because of the vast library of games and the convenience it offers.
According to a recent report, Xbox Game Pass may introduce new tiers in response to price increases. The potential new options could be a cloud-based plan and an ad-supported version, providing more affordable choices for users.
According to Windows Central’s article, the Xbox Game Pass family plan might reappear, and a cloud-based version could be developed to cater to gamers streaming on Samsung TVs, mobile devices, or Amazon Fire TV Sticks. In line with Microsoft’s ‘every screen is an Xbox’ philosophy, no console would be necessary.
According to reports, Microsoft is supposedly planning to introduce a new tier for Xbox Game Pass that goes beyond just streaming. This rumored feature would also enable users to buy and download digital games. To clarify, Xbox head Phil Spencer has confirmed that the capability to stream games you already own will be available later in 2023.
The Friends and Family Plan might continue from where the previous 2022-2023 trial ended, initially introduced in eight countries with a monthly fee of $24.99 for five individuals. However, it’s highly uncertain that this pricing will remain in effect when the plan is reintroduced.
There’s no official announcement about additional Xbox Game Pass tiers and their prices, not yet. However, if you want to play “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” on its release date, which is October 25th, you will need to sign up for the more expensive tier.
