Prime Video has added a new survival thriller called The Devil’s Mouth, starring Lana Condor (known for her roles in X-Men: Apocalypse and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before). The film, directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), is about a group of college friends whose summer trip abroad takes a dangerous turn.
I’m really excited about this new movie! It stars Sadie Sink (who I know from Stranger Things), along with Kathryn Newton from Ready or Not, Nico Hiraga of Booksmart, Gavin Casalegno who was in The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Tommi Rose. They all play a group of friends who go on an adventure exploring underwater caves in Thailand – sounds intense!
The group quickly discovers their exploration of the tight waterways has become much more dangerous. A recent, unusual storm washed a lot of sea creatures into the freshwater canals, and one of them—surprisingly still alive—is now hunting them.
The movie’s description reveals that when faced with danger, the group will struggle with growing cracks in their relationships and increasing mistrust, turning survival into a ruthless competition. Tayme Thapthimthong (from season three of The White Lotus) plays Wat, who guides them.
The group starts to fall apart as fear and confusion set in. They begin to distrust each other, and the struggle to survive becomes brutal. Trapped in the darkness, they realize that difficult choices and sacrifices will be necessary if anyone hopes to escape.

Despite receiving a low critic score of 30% on Rotten Tomatoes based on ten reviews, Aja Gabel and Myung Joh Wesner’s The Devil’s Mouth has still been called a fun and worthwhile disaster film by some reviewers.
Heaven of Horror found the film’s plot predictable, but praised the characters and performances, calling them highly entertaining.
Likewise, The Guardian called it a fun, if somewhat cheesy, B-movie made interesting by the complicated relationship between its main characters.
One IMDb reviewer shared that they went into the movie with low expectations, but ended up really enjoying it.
