X-Men Star Caleb Landry Jones Stars in New Dracula Movie – First Trailer Released!

A brand-new film featuring an actor from the X-Men universe of Marvel has debuted its initial preview. The movie is set for a theatrical release in France on the 30th of July.

As a movie buff, I’m thrilled to share that Caleb Landry Jones will take on the iconic role of Dracula in Luc Besson’s upcoming film, “Dracula: A Love Tale.” This project is based on the timeless gothic horror novel by Bram Stoker. The stellar cast also includes Christoph Waltz as Priest and Matilda De Angelis as Maria, both of whom have proven their mettle in their respective roles in “Inglourious Basterds” and “The Undoing.” However, at this moment, the film hasn’t secured distribution in the United States yet.

As a captivated viewer, I can’t help but express my excitement for Luc Besson’s unique reimagining of the classic tale, titled “Dracula: A Love Story.” Instead of the traditional UK setting, this film breathes new life into the story by transposing it to the picturesque backdrop of Belle Époque Paris. The second act takes us on a compelling journey, leading up to July 14, 1989, as the city commemorates the centennial anniversary of the French Revolution. Here, we find Dracula drawn to a woman in Paris who bears an uncanny resemblance to his long-lost wife Elisabeta, resurrected four centuries after her untimely demise.

Previously, Besson and Jones collaborated on the 2023 film titled “Dogman“. In this production, Jones portrayed a man who was mistreated by his father, and after being apprehended while transporting a truckload of dogs, he recounts his life story to a psychiatrist. Impressed by Jones’ acting in “Dogman“, Besson decided to team up with him once more for the film “Dracula“. Speaking about Jones, Besson stated, “He’s incredibly gifted. I haven’t encountered such talent since…”. On a personal level, he described Jones as kind and genuine, adding that there were no entourages, agents or assistants accompanying him.

Beyond my roles in “X-Men: First Class” and “Dogman”, I’ve also made quite an impact as Jeremy Armitage in “Get Out” and Red Welby in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”. Notably, I was honored with the Best Actor award at a prestigious event for my outstanding performance in “Nitra”, which was graciously bestowed upon me by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts for my leading role.

Another New Dracula Adaptation Is On the Way

Over the years, the chilling tale of Dracula has been reimagined and retold in various ways. In the year 2024, Robert Eggers brought to life a new version of ‘Nosferatu,’ a film that was originally inspired by Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ novel. The following year, 2023, saw the adaptation of “The Captain’s Log” chapter from the original novel into an underestimated yet compelling supernatural horror movie.

In April, it became known that yet another adaptation of Dracula’s tale is in development. This new take is based on a short story penned by Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill. The narrative revolves around Max and Rudy Van Helsing, the offspring of the renowned vampire slayer Abraham Van Helsing. As they delve deeper into their father’s past with the legendary vampire, they start to grasp his erratic and violent actions. This film premiered at this year’s Overlook Film Festival; however, a cinematic release has not been confirmed as of now.

Luc Besson’s Dracula: A Love Tale will release in French theaters on July 30, 2025.
