Wynonna Judd: Devastated When Mother Revealed Real Dad Wasn’t Who She Thought

Wynonna Judd shared how she felt shocked, saddened, and enraged when her mother Naomi disclosed the true identity of her biological father to her.

Naomi and Wynonna gained popularity as the musical duo, The Judds, but behind the scenes, they had a tumultuous personal bond that spanned their challenging lives. Tragically, Naomi took her own life with a gunshot in 2022 at the age of 76.

Currently, at age 60, Wynonna is revealing the hidden aspects of their relationship in the latest Lifetime documentary series titled “The Judd Family: Unveiling the Truth”.

For the initial three decades of her existence, she thought Michael Ciminella, Naomi’s first spouse whom she wedded at age 17 and who was also the father of Wynonna, was her biological father.

It wasn’t until Wynonna turned thirty and had already enjoyed more than a decade in the spotlight that her mother, Naomi, revealed a surprising fact: her father was not the person everyone believed him to be but rather a man named Charlie Jordan instead.

Prior to his death in 2000 at the age of 56, Charlie and Wynonna had never had a face-to-face encounter. As reported by TooFab, he left behind a trailer adorned with posters of The Judds.

Naomi originally shared with Wynonna that her encounter with Charlie when she was sixteen went like this: “I was a virgin, living alone at home, and Charlie ended up crossing the line.

Yet, as Wynonna persistently tugged at the strands, she gradually revealed the authentic tale behind her ancestry, which had initially been obscured.

It seems that Naomi had feelings for Charlie, yet they were faced with stress and everyone got quite anxious, leading him to enlist in the Army, as Wynonna explained.

She confided that she grasped the situation, but she had been deeply upset with her over it. In fact, she felt so distraught that she couldn’t help but feel like a piece of herself was gone. She admitted that she saw the glass as being half empty.

Reflecting on my biological father, there are some aspects where I seem more like him than my mother. I believe this might have scared my mom a bit, as she found it difficult to manage that side of me, unable to mold or guide it effectively. This could be the reason why my mom was often strict with me.

In the absence of my beloved Charlie, deployed for duty, I found myself at 17, expecting a child that carried a piece of him. Yet, as life unfolded, I chose to walk down the aisle with another, Michael Ciminella – a choice not without its complexities and uncertainties, but a choice made in the heart of an obsessed fan.

Michael and Naomi initially focused on raising Wynonna, and later had a child biologically with them – the well-known film actress Ashley Judd.

Nevertheless, Michael and Wynonna had always maintained a certain emotional gap. Recently, Wynonna remarked, “I understood that Michael wasn’t fond of me, and my mother didn’t truly cherish him.

Naomi and Wynonna rose to fame in the music industry, with Wynonna gaining stardom at the tender age of 18. This rise brought them a massive fanbase, among whom was Charlie, who observed their success from a distance.

According to Wynonna, it appears that Charlie was aware of her existence and often felt powerless to intervene. It seems he may have thought himself unworthy or incapable, something like: “Wynonna’s life is set, and I can’t simply intrude on it.

Initially, I hesitated to see him, questioning my own assumptions: ‘What if he’s rude?’ or ‘Will we even click?’ It was a cascade of doubts: what-ifs, worries, and anxiety. In 2000, at the age of 56, Charlie passed away. His mobile home was adorned with posters of Judd, serving as a poignant farewell to the woman he had parted from and the daughter he had never met.

In the latest documentary series, Wynonna stated that she chose not to attend the funeral as she believed it might have been too emotionally taxing for his family.
