WWE Saturday Night Main Event 2025 Predictions: Goldberg Will REPLACE Jey Uso
On this coming Saturday, WWE Saturday Night Main Event takes place at San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center, and WWE has already announced four matches for the event: The main attraction of the night is scheduled to be a World Title fight between current champion Gunther and Jey Uso. A highly anticipated match could be Bron Breakker defending his IC Title against Sheamus, if Sheamus can secure his Grand Slam achievement in his lengthy career. Now, it’s time for our Saturday Night Main Event 2025 Predictions, with Goldberg stepping in to challenge Gunther for the World Title instead of Jey Uso.
Gunther (c) vs. Jey Uso [World Title]
It would have been more advantageous for Gunther to face Goldberg following their clash at Bad Blood this year. Even Logan Paul could have been a more suitable opponent to deal with before WrestleMania, considering the ongoing speculation and hints about a title bout between Gunther that were dropped during the Raw Netflix Debut Press Conference. The situation becomes puzzling when Jey Uso is scheduled for a World Title Match against Gunther, especially given his fluke victory over Drew McIntyre on the Raw Netflix Premiere. Realistically, Uso stands no chance of emerging victorious in this encounter, and McIntyre will seek revenge and likely sabotage Uso’s chances regardless.
Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Nia Jax [World Title]
In simple terms, if Tiffany Stratton successfully took the World Title from Nia Jax during the first SmackDown of 2025, then according to the rule, Nia has the right for another match against Tiffany for the World Title. However, it’s puzzling why this rule is used in some wrestling feuds but not consistently applied in others. For instance, this rule was used in Shinsuke Nakamura’s U.S. Title defense against LA Knight, but it wasn’t used in other matches like this one. Also, putting Nia Jax in a fatal four-way match for the number one contender spot on SmackDown didn’t help her regain momentum as a former world champion, instead it seemed unnecessary and counterproductive.
Following the loss of his momentum, Jax was moved to Raw and granted a title challenge against current world champion Rhea Ripley after a vicious backstage assault. Despite their history from the Elimination Chamber event in Australia last year, there’s no ongoing narrative that justifies a title switch at this point. Since Ripley recently reclaimed the title from Liv Morgan during the Raw Netflix premiere, this contest is expected to be a clear retention for her. This temporary feud suggests that WWE didn’t have any immediate plans for Ripley’s title reign and merely placed a former champ with some reputation next to her to fill time.
Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu
The question arises as to why this match is on the card, given its absence of a developed narrative, but WWE often favors grand spectacle matches, and this one certainly fits that mold. Both Jacob Fatu and Braun Strowman are massive competitors, so it’s expected that the crowd will erupt when they face off. It appears that this bout is designed for Jacob Fatu to emerge victorious, serving as a means to rejuvenate momentum for the Bloodline following their defeats at Survivor Series and Raw Netflix Debut against OG Bloodline and Roman Reigns respectively. Braun Strowman, in his role as the seasoned competitor, has been placed here to boost the younger star.
Chelsea Green (c) vs. Michin [U.S. Title]
It was satisfying to observe WWE crown Chelsea Green as the first U.S. Champion, given she’s a genuine mid-level performer who deserved it and her performance up until now has been impressive. Despite Chelsea’s win against Michin in the tournament finals, there was a caveat to that victory thanks to Piper Niven’s underhanded interference. They had another match on SmackDown, but Chelsea cheated slightly to keep the title. WWE may arrange this championship rematch at short notice to wrap up this rivalry completely. This should be an effortless title retention for Chelsea since there’s a good reason for her to lose it so soon.
Bron Breakker (c) vs. Sheamus [IC Title]
From an open and honest perspective, Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Championship reign has been as uneventful as molasses flowing slowly on a frosty January day. If WWE chooses to execute a title change at this event, this would be the perfect match for them to make the switch. Sheamus previously lost his first IC Title bout against Bron Breakker during Survivor Series, being pinned in a triple threat with Ludwig Kaiser. Now that Sheamus is finally facing Bron Breakker one-on-one, he can’t afford another misstep on his path to achieving a Grand Slam. He’s already faltered twice against Gunther. Essentially, it’s high time for WWE to dial 1-800-FELLA (a reference to Sheamus’ catchphrase).
