WWE Royal Rumble 2025 Predictions: AJ Lee Will 100% Be There
In 2025 on February 1st, the WWE Royal Rumble takes place live on Peacock at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Confirmed matches for this event include the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumbles, as well as a Ladder Match between Cody Rhodes (champion) and Kevin Owens for the WWE Title. The winners of these Royal Rumble Matches will have the opportunity to main event WrestleMania against the world champions. Excitingly, AJ Lee is expected to make a shocking comeback to the WWE after an absence of 10 years.
Women’s Royal Rumble [Battle Royal]
It appears that the most likely contenders for winning this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match are those who have previously claimed the title, including Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Bianca Belair. However, it’s always exciting when less expected competitors rise to the occasion – like Iyo Sky, Liv Morgan, and Jade Cargill – who might make history with their inaugural Royal Rumble victory.
Additionally, there could be some unexpected comebacks, such as Alexa Bliss, Carmella, or even AJ Lee. However, given that they will still be involved in significant storylines on their journey to WrestleMania upon their return, it seems unlikely that they will take home the Royal Rumble title this year.
As a die-hard WWE fan, I believe it’s time for a fresh face to shine in this year’s Rumble. While Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan have both had their moments in the limelight, they don’t necessarily need to win the Rumble this year. Iyo Sky, who battled it out with Bayley for the World Championship last year, already has her place in the main event scene. As for Liv Morgan, she recently lost the World Title to Rhea Ripley, but she’s got a rematch clause that’s yet to be activated. Giving these ladies a break could pave the way for a newcomer to step up and make their mark.
Instead of saying it, let me rephrase that in a more natural and easy-to-understand manner: Jade Cargill could be an ideal choice for a World Title challenge after her car incident, especially since she was attacked at WrestleMania by the same woman. Last year, she was a runner-up in the Rumble match, and winning this year would greatly boost her reputation as a strong star in the women’s division. It is believed that Charlotte Flair might be behind the attack, as she was upset when Bianca Belair replaced her with Jade Cargill as her tag team partner. For them to face each other, Charlotte needs to first defeat Tiffany Stratton and then defend the title against Jade Cargill at WrestleMania.
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens [WWE Title]
Kevin Owens feels betrayed by Cody Rhodes for joining forces with Roman Reigns against The New Bloodline at Bad Blood, as he believes Reigns has been manipulative and caused misery for others during his rule over the past three years. This is particularly distressing for Owens because of their friendship due to their connection with the Young Bucks. To add insult to injury, Randy Orton, Owens’ own tag team partner, sided with Cody in this situation due to their history together as part of Legacy, making the predicament even more challenging. The complexity and depth of this storyline surpasses any other on the event’s card.
As a passionate gamer, I firmly believe that Cody will hold onto the WWE Title against KO. Despite KO’s justifiable actions as a heel, the events between him and Randy have created a deep-rooted grudge that Cody cannot ignore. KO took advantage of Randy’s weakened back, causing severe harm that has left him hospitalized. Randy was more than just an opponent to Cody; he was a mentor, someone who held a special place in Cody’s heart. With such a personal stake at play, Cody won’t let this injustice pass unchallenged.
There’s even a chance that Randy might return from injury, driven by vengeance, to sabotage KO and help Cody secure the win. This outcome would not only give KO a soft landing for his heel run leading up to WrestleMania but also protect Cody’s honor as he stands up for what he believes is right.
Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Nia Jax [WWE Womens Title]
After Tiffany Stratton betrayed Nia Jax and claimed the WWE Title by cashing in on Nia, it seems their storyline isn’t wrapping up until Nia has a chance for revenge, or rematch. It was puzzling to witness Nia participating in a fatal four-way match for the number one contender spot on SmackDown, given she already holds a rematch clause. However, following Tiffany’s successful title defense against current contender Bayley this past week on SmackDown, Bayley is expected to depart for Raw and work out a new agreement with Adam Pearce for a fresh beginning. Meanwhile, Nia will continue her ongoing rivalry with Tiffany as they approach WrestleMania.
Gunther (c) vs. Goldberg [World Heavyweight Title]
Given the legends’ supposed comeback for Ro, it wouldn’t be surprising if Goldberg squares off against Gunther on Raw in Atlanta, his home turf. It’s interesting that Goldberg seems to have a more legitimate claim to the championship than many others on the roster, following their heated exchange at Bad Blood. There, Gunther accused Goldberg of lying about being his favorite wrestler to Bret Hart and labeled him as a one-dimensional performer. Since this was hinted at, a title match between them could make for an exciting addition to the Rumble, much like WWE did with McIntyre and Goldberg four years back.
Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Liv Morgan vs. Becky Lynch [WWE Women’s World Title]
As a diehard WWE fan, I was eagerly anticipating Becky Lynch’s return after a long hiatus of eight months, especially since it coincided with the Raw Netflix Debut, where Rhea Ripley dethroned Liv Morgan. However, things took an unexpected turn when it seemed that Becky’s return was put on hold to allow for a symbolic “passing of the torch” moment between The Undertaker and Rhea Ripley.
Given that Liv Morgan has a rematch clause and Becky Lynch played a significant role in the Ripley-Morgan narrative before departing in May, it seems fitting to conclude this chapter with a thrilling triple threat match involving these three incredible women. With Ripley having recently claimed the title, it makes perfect sense for her to retain in such a high-stakes encounter. I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds!
Men’s Royal Rumble [Battle Royal]
It appears that the most likely contenders for victory in this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble are past winners like John Cena, Roman Reigns, The Rock, Seth Rollins, and Drew McIntyre. But, to keep things interesting, there’s a wildcard, CM Punk, who might pull off an upset win – something fans have been eagerly anticipating for quite some time now. Additionally, we could see some unexpected comebacks from veterans such as Goldberg, AJ Styles, and Brock Lesnar, but it seems they’ll be more focused on resolving their ongoing feuds before aiming to win the Rumble, which will lead them towards WrestleMania.
It seems quite plausible that we might see another two-time Rumble winner this year, but strategically speaking, it would be more beneficial for WWE to introduce a new Rumble winner instead. This could help establish a fresh face in the main event scene. Given that John Cena, Roman Reigns, The Rock, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and others have already had their time in the WrestleMania Main Events, it’s CM Punk who is particularly due for this victory. He has been determined to main event WrestleMania during his final stretch with WWE, and the secret admiration he shares with Paul Heyman should propel him towards achieving that ultimate goal, one way or another.
