WWE Raw Predictions, Dec 9, 2024: Goldberg Will Replace Finn Balor

As a seasoned wrestling fan with over two decades of watching WWE, I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and anticipation as we approach Saturday Night Main Event. The go-home week on Raw is always exciting, and this one promises to be no exception with Liv Morgan defending her World Title against Iyo Sky and Finn Balor challenging Gunther for his title. And who knows, maybe Goldberg will make an appearance to stake his claim for the World Title after their confrontation at Bad Blood.

This week’s WWE Raw is leading up to Saturday Night Main Event, where Liv Morgan will battle Iyo Sky for the World Title, and Gunther will defend against Finn Balor. Since Saturday Night Main Event has a nostalgic feel, there might be an appearance by legends like Goldberg, who could challenge for the World Title following his encounter with Gunther at Bad Blood in October. Last week on Raw, Drew McIntyre unexpectedly came back since his HIAC Match with CM Punk, only to Claymore Kick Sami Zayn after a shady backstage attack by Jey Uso.

For this week on Raw, the following three matches have been confirmed: Ivy Nile competes against Zelina Vega and Lyra Valkyria in an IC Title Tournament Match, Wyatt Sicks battles Final Testament in a Faction War, and Rhea Ripley faces Raquel Rodriguez in a Personal Rivalry Match. Additionally, there’s a rumor circulating about a WWE “Transfer Window” Shakeup happening soon. This shakeup is said to swap Raw superstars with SmackDown stars, potentially marking the midpoint of the WWE calendar as we edge closer to WrestleMania 41 in April.

Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez [Personal Rivalry]

In simpler terms, Rhea Ripley is expected to win against Raquel Rodriguez in their upcoming match. This is because Ripley’s objective is to build up momentum towards challenging Liv Morgan for the World Title. Rodriguez might serve as a temporary obstacle for Ripley on her path to Morgan. However, WWE could choose to have Rodriguez win this time to make Ripley face more challenges before reaching Morgan, but given Rodriguez’s recent lack of momentum, it’s not necessary. This match on Raw is Rhea Ripley’s return bout, and continuing her momentum from her War Games Victory where she pinned Liv Morgan in the final moments of their epic match at Survivor Series would be strategic.

Wyatt Sicks vs. Final Testament [Faction War]

In simpler terms, Wyatt Sicks is expected to win against Final Testament because they are exceptional characters who seldom lose early in their WWE Raw tenure. The Miz seems to be the one taking the fall in this bout as he’s considered the weakest link and ill-suited for that faction. It remains unclear where Wyatt Sicks will head next, but they might have a significant match at WrestleMania 41 as a tribute to Bray Wyatt. WWE hasn’t effectively kept audience interest in this faction’s storyline, and it started off strong but has since lost steam quickly. Final Testament has suffered greatly in terms of popularity and credibility since their debut in 2023.

Ivy Nile vs. Zelina Vega vs. Lyra Valkyria [IC Title Tournament]

In simpler terms, none of the current women in this tournament match will claim victory. Instead, Sonya Deville will step in for one of them since she’s been vocal about feeling excluded from the tournament and has specifically pointed out Dakota Kai as being too prone to injuries to be a champion. Given all the hints dropped so far, it looks like Sonya Deville vs. Dakota Kai will likely decide this tournament’s finals. This is the only compelling rivalry with a solid narrative in the tournament. Additionally, given that Sonya Deville’s Pure Fusion Collective has been causing chaos on Raw, she seems like the most likely choice to become the first champion.
