WWE NXT is the best presentation of women’s wrestling today
As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the ebb and flow of professional wrestling for decades, I can confidently say that WWE NXT’s women’s division is nothing short of a revelation. Having grown up on the ‘Attitude Era,’ it’s refreshing to see a brand that not only honors the past but also pushes the boundaries of what women’s wrestling can be.
The WWE NXT Halloween Havoc event will take place on Sunday, October 27th. This exciting night promises a robust lineup with intriguing matchups tailored for the Tuesday evening brand. The recent episode from October 22nd concluded with the unexpected arrival of ZARIA (previously known as DELTA). This latest signing underscores the strength and exceptional quality of NXT’s women’s division, widely regarded as the deepest and most compelling in wrestling.
Every week, WWE NXT airs two hours of programming, consistently accomplishing feats that other promotions find challenging. The show dedicates substantial time to female segments and fights, often giving them equal or even more screen time compared to the male divisions. In the October 22 episode alone, no less than 26 women were featured, none of whom were part of a battle royale or lumberjack-style match. Remarkably, ten of these women engaged in complete matches, with some even opening and closing the show.
Enthusiasts persistently advocate for this style of booking across WWE Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. These brands boast impressive lineups of female wrestlers, yet they don’t receive the same level of opportunities as the women’s division in WWE NXT. This is particularly disappointing considering the resources at the disposal of those two primary platforms.
Supporters have urged All Elite Wrestling to enhance the portrayal of their female athletes across their programming. Although improvements have been made in certain aspects, there seems to be a sense that the momentum the women’s division had just a few months back may have waned somewhat.
WWE NXT’s women’s division continues to shine brightly. Roxanne Perez is leading the charge, while fresh talents such as Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, and ZARIA are generating a lot of buzz about what lies ahead. Cora Jade has made her comeback, adding yet another promising new face to the division. Meanwhile, Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson are receiving significant screen time on the main roster, with fans showing enthusiasm for both. It’s also important not to overlook emerging talents like Kelani Jordan, Jaida Parker, Lola Vice, Wendy Choo, Tatum Paxley, and many others who have been featured on the show. The talent pool is simply overflowing!
WWE NXT demonstrates an ideal approach to showcasing women’s wrestling across all wrestling platforms. These talented women are grabbing their opportunities and it’s resonating positively with fans. Instead of waiting for their chance, they’re actively seizing the moment that’s before them.
