WWE must do an Evolution II
As a seasoned gamer of wrestling lore who has witnessed countless matches and moments that have left an indelible mark on my memory, I must express my ardent support for WWE to finally unleash Evolution II. The women’s division in WWE is currently brimming with talent that rivals the golden age of wrestling, a fact evident to anyone who has been following the squared circle for more than a decade.
2024 has been a banner year for WWE, with one triumph after another. Almost every week, they’re either breaking records or achieving significant milestones. With the company enjoying such a high profile, it seems like the perfect moment to unveil Evolution II – capitalizing on this wave of success while the spotlight is shining brightly on WWE.
Six years ago, on October 28th, WWE organized its first all-women’s Pay-Per-View event at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. With an audience of approximately 10,900 people, this number remains impressive even by today’s standards. This historic event showcased the biggest names in women’s wrestling. Regrettably, WWE has yet to host another event of this nature, despite numerous fans continuing to advocate for it.
Currently, there’s simply no valid reason left. WWE possesses all the necessary tools to stage an Evolution II event. The roster is brimming with gifted performers who can easily populate a lineup. With Monday Night Raw, SmackDown, and WWE NXT combined – this could be the most impressive women’s roster ever assembled under one banner. Visualize a card featuring Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, Giulia, IYO Sky, Kairi Sane, Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green, Nia Jax, Bayley, Piper Niven, Michin, Tiffany Stratton, and numerous other roster members. The event could even pay tribute to Chyna’s legacy by introducing an inaugural battle royale in her honor, similar to the Andre the Giant Battle Royale. Given the immense potential here, it almost feels like a missed opportunity not to organize such an event.
It’s crucial to mention that this move also represents a significant stride, as WWE remains actively involved in the increasingly competitive landscape of professional wrestling free agency. The year 2024 saw numerous athletes switching promotions, and there seems to be a widespread belief that All Elite Wrestling is dominating this trend, with stars like Will Ospreay, Mercedes Mone, Kazuchika Okada, Deonna Purrazzo, Kamille, and Ricochet making the switch. WWE, however, has managed to secure key talents such as Jacob Fatu, Ethan Page, Giulia, Andrade, GOD, and more.
The WWE’s women’s division is receiving more screen time, but there’s still potential for improvement in their scheduling. Crafting a compelling showcase for Evolution II could significantly enhance fans’ view of the women’s treatment within the company. It’s been six years since the initial event; it’s high time this development occurs.
