Wuthering Heights rakes in £56m at the global box office making it the biggest opening weekend of the year so far

Wuthering Heights earned a strong $76.8 million worldwide during its opening weekend, which is equivalent to £56 million.

Emerald Fennell’s new romantic drama reimagines Emily Brontë’s classic novel, with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi playing the roles of Catherine and Heathcliff.

The new film has broken box office records, earning $34.8 million in North America during its opening weekend – making it the highest-grossing film of the year so far.

According to PostTrak polling, an estimated 76 per cent of those ticket buyers were women.

The total sales figure could reach $40 million by the end of the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, factoring in results from all 3,682 stores.

Okay, so everyone keeps talking about how much ‘Barbie’ cost to make, and it’s insane! Apparently, Warner Bros. and MRC dropped around $80 million just on the actual movie itself! And that’s not even including all the advertising, trailers, and everything else they’ve been doing to get us hyped – that must be millions more! I’m obsessed and it’s totally worth every penny, honestly.

If the four-day totals match the estimates, that makes for a strong $82million global debut.

The movie is set to open in Japan and Vietnam on February 27th, and in China on March 13th, with several other releases still planned.

The movie has received mixed reviews from critics and currently has a 63% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Many movie fans are already calling this epic historical drama the best film of the year. They’ve been sharing their emotional reactions online, with many admitting the story left them in tears.

I’ve always been captivated by this story! It’s a deeply emotional and often heartbreaking tale of love, set on the rugged and beautiful Yorkshire moors. It really delves into the powerful, yet ultimately damaging, connection between Cathy and Heathcliff – they’re a couple you won’t soon forget.

We won’t reveal how the story ends, but most people are likely already familiar with it – the novel is a classic that’s been taught in schools and made into movies and plays many times over.

You know, even after the movie ended, social media absolutely exploded! I was seeing post after post of people saying they went in not expecting much, and ended up completely falling in love with it – lots of tears were shed, apparently! It’s so lovely when a film really surprises you like that.

Some even confessed that the movie inspired them to finally finish reading the famous novel.

One viewer enthusiastically declared ‘Wuthering Heights’ the movie of the year. They also admitted they weren’t expecting to enjoy it so much, adding that it moved them to tears.

I freely admit I cried during the final part of ‘Wuthering Heights,’ and honestly, I absolutely loved the book.

I recently saw the film ‘Wuthering Heights,’ and I thought it felt a lot like a really passionate fan fiction – which I actually enjoyed!

Okay, I just got back from seeing ‘Wuthering Heights,’ and wow! It was seriously powerful. It’s actually inspired me to finally tackle the book – if the movie could move me that much, I have a feeling I’ll be a total emotional wreck by the time I finish reading it, but in the best way possible! I’m already bracing myself for all the feels.

As a creative, you always wonder how a project will land, right? Well, director Emerald Fennell, who’s incredibly talented, actually wanted people to have a strong reaction to her latest work. She told me before it came out that she was really hoping it would spark some conversation – and maybe even a little debate!

In an interview with Time Out, she playfully admitted she hopes for plenty of kissing during the movie. She joked about potentially pushing the boundaries – apologizing to Cineworld in advance – and predicted audiences would be deeply moved, with many leaving the theater in tears.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m a huge believer in the power of truly feeling things, and that extends to what I watch! I adore movies that really grab you – the ones that make you scream, laugh until you cry, or even just catch your breath. It’s about wanting to connect with the story on a deeply emotional level, and those are the films that stay with you long after the credits roll.

The Oscar-winning director of Promising Young Woman has cautioned fans that her adaptation will be a reimagining of the story, focusing on its most alluring and sensual elements rather than a faithful recreation.

Margot recently shared that she wasn’t the first choice for the main role in the movie. She also had to work with a dialect coach early in her career because her accent was considered quite strong.

The Australian actress opened up while appearing on The Graham Norton Show earlier this month.

She shared that she hadn’t originally planned to be involved as a participant. She was happy with just producing, but during a conversation about Cathy, she decided she wanted to participate too.

I dreamed of acting in Emerald’s productions, and luckily, she wanted to work with me too. It was a fantastic experience.
