In just a short span of time, we’ve been hit with several announcements about cast members parting ways from Saturday Night Live. Now, don’t get me wrong – it’s not unusual to see some changes during off-seasons, and not every exit is by choice. But this week seems to have been a particularly tough one. And now, even former SNL cast member Punkie Johnson has weighed in on the recent departures.
Previously dismissed cast member Punkie Johnson has been sharing her thoughts on Instagram after the recent exits of Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, Michael Longfellow, and more recently, Heidi Gardner. To put it mildly, she’s stirring up quite a bit of intrigue online.

As an ardent fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the changes in store for Saturday Night Live (SNL) as we approach Season 51. Historically, there’s usually a casting transformation at the start of each season, with departures and arrivals shaping the lineup. However, this time around, the magnitude of change seems especially substantial.
Emil Wakim spent only one season on Saturday Night Live, which means he wasn’t deeply rooted in the show yet. On the positive side, this short stint might imply that we didn’t get to fully appreciate his talents. Indeed, Wakim brought a distinctive viewpoint to the show that will be noticeably absent now that he’s gone.
Punkie Johnson’s tenure on the show didn’t even overlap with Wakim’s, but on his post, she said…

Although the initial two events are regrettable, the following two are nothing short of surprising. After whispers about Michael Longfellow potentially taking over the Weekend Update desk, news broke out that he’s actually departing from the program altogether.
Fan support was clearly with Longfellow, as they seemed quite surprised that he was gone. Punkie Johnson was as shocked as anybody, saying…
