At the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the 97th Academy Awards took place, combining both cinematic brilliance and high fashion. Before the main event, the red carpet served as a runway for stunning outfits and accessories. While the awards themselves are the heart of the Oscars, the pre-show spectacle was equally mesmerizing. Jewelry and watches often played crucial roles in enhancing the overall look on the glamorous red carpet.
Timothée Chalamet has again captivated watch enthusiasts with his unique choice of timepieces. At the recent SAG Awards, he wore a Cartier Tank Sautoir pendant as a bolo tie, leaving many impressed. Although Adrien Brody won the Best Actor in a Leading Role award, Chalamet’s red carpet appearance was stunning. He complemented his custom Givenchy butter-yellow suit with slim and sophisticated Cartier accessories, such as the Cartier Bagnoire Ref. 1960 wristwatch from the Byzantine Collection, which he wore in 1994.
Omega watches and Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces remain popular choices for many stylish gentlemen on the red carpet. Colman Domingo showcased an 18k Canopus Gold Speedmaster Moonwatch from Omega, while Robert Downey Jr sported a Seamaster Aqua Terra in Sedna Gold. Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield stood out with his elegant and well-coordinated outfit. Dressed in rich chocolate tones, the actor accessorized his look with a pink gold Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar watch from Jaeger-LeCoultre, pairing it with a brown leather strap.
Additionally, Sebastian Stan was seen sporting a Cartier Santos Dumont watch adorned with diamonds and set in rose gold alongside a traditional tuxedo on the night. English actor Joe Alwyn, known for his role in the critically acclaimed film, “The Brutalist,” opted for a reliable black tuxedo, accentuated by a 37mm Bulgari Bulgari watch in golden hues.
Instead, I chose to embrace a touch of elegance with the Yiqing Yin x Vacheron Constantin Égérie Moon Phase Concept Watch. This exquisite timepiece showcased a soft lilac tone, mirroring the purplish accents in my attire.
Among the ladies, some standout pieces are Coco Gauff’s diamond-studded Rolex Lady-Datejust, Michelle Yeoh’s snow-adorned Richard Mille RM 07-01, and Raye’s frosted Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini.
To wrap things up, director Jon M. Chu donned his vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 3579-1 from the 1970s yet again – a timeless accessory that he also showcased at the 30th Critics’ Choice Awards previously.
Take a look at some of the highlighted timepieces as seen on the red carpet of this year’s Oscars.
