Wow, The Critics Really Did Not Like Lilo And Stitch As Much As The Audience Did

Over the recent weekend, the “Stitchpossible” twin-bill might have raked in a significant amount of box office revenue as audiences flocked to watch it. Despite the fact that fans made both films huge successes and seemed to enjoy both equally, this positive reception was not shared by critics.

In general, opinions among critics and viewers regarding what constitutes a fantastic film can differ, but when it comes to “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”, there’s a higher level of consensus on its quality compared to the live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch”. Interestingly, audiences enjoyed both movies more than critics did, and in the case of the Disney movie, their appreciation was significantly stronger.

Audiences Like Lilo & Stitch A Lot More Than Critics

Both the recently released films were highly appreciated by viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, earning them the Verified Hot rating. Interestingly, it was Lilo & Stitch that garnered more favor among audiences, securing a 93% score compared to the final Mission: Impossible, which received an impressive 89%.

Contrasting opinions, critics have united to bestow a Fresh certification on the latest Tom Cruise film, with 80% of them expressing favorable reviews. On the other hand, our reviewers at L&S are less enthused, giving it a score of 69%.

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but notice the buzz surrounding Lilo & Stitch among Disney live-action remakes. Personally, I find myself leaning towards the belief that this reimagined classic is one of the stronger adaptations. Critics seem to concur with my sentiment, but there are some who argue that the story didn’t quite capture the magic it had the first time around.

Lilo & Stitch’s Rotten Tomatoes Gap Is Still Smaller Than Snow White’s

It’s quite common for there to be a difference in opinion between viewers and critics when it comes to the Mission: Impossible movies, but the overall feedback isn’t all that dissimilar. For instance, both fan bases and professional reviewers tend to agree that Mission: Impossible – Fallout is excellent, while they generally feel that Mission: Impossible 2 falls short.

In this specific area of Disney’s production line, audiences and reviewers frequently hold contrasting opinions. Generally, the public seems to prefer Disney’s live-action adaptations over the critiques, but it’s important to note that they can also express much stronger disapproval for some of them.

Previously, Disney’s adaptation of Snow White was panned by critics, earning a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it underperformed at the box office. However, it deserves respect for its 71% audience approval rating on the platform. Interestingly, films like The Lion King and Aladdin received almost equally negative reviews from critics but enjoyed more favorable responses from audiences. Conversely, Mulan, which was well-received by critics with a higher score, failed to impress the audience.

Lilo & Stitch” isn’t the first film that didn’t receive critical acclaim to rake in large sums at the box office, and it probably won’t be the only one either. You can catch the movie along with its upcoming 2025 release, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning“, now in cinemas.
