As a longtime Worms enthusiast who’s seen the digital battlefields of Armageddon since its original release, I can hardly contain my excitement for the Worms Armageddon Anniversary Edition! Over the years, I’ve witnessed countless epic battles, laughed at exploding sheep, and strategized tirelessly to outwit my opponents. This remastered version is like a reunion with an old friend who’s come back better than ever!
17th Team (Team17) and experts in retro remasters, Digital Eclipse, have declared the release of Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition – a revamped version of what many consider the finest Worms game, marking its 25-year milestone.
In September, the Worms Armageddon Anniversary Edition is scheduled to debut, featuring a completely overhauled user interface, improved controller compatibility, fresh display options (including aspect ratio choices, custom screen filters, and advanced HD and graphics settings), a revamped save system, and a playable version of the Game Boy Color release included.
Since this is a remastered version of Digital Eclipse, you’ll find an interactive museum detailing the entire Worms series timeline, featuring exclusive developer interviews and additional content not previously available. This online experience supports up to six players, including cross-platform play across different console generations.
The anniversary edition of Worms Armageddon will be available for play on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch starting from the 26th of September.
