As a huge Star Wars fan, I always loved Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, but I figured we’d seen the last of those characters in the Star Wars universe. Still, it was so cool to hear that Harrison and Felicity finally met! Apparently, it was at the premiere of Felicity’s new film, Train Dreams, and her reaction to meeting a Star Wars legend was absolutely adorable.
I’m so excited for everyone to finally see Jones’ new movie, Train Dreams! It’s coming to Netflix later this month, and she stars alongside Joel Edgerton, who you might recognize from Star Wars – he played Owen Lars! Apparently, Joel and Harrison Ford are really close, and Joel actually invited Harrison to the premiere in Los Angeles. I heard Jones talked to Variety after meeting Ford on Monday night, and I’m really curious to hear what she said.
That was a truly special experience. He’s a pioneer and hugely influential, like meeting a legendary ancestor.
David Edgerton worked with Harrison Ford on a Glenmorangie Scotch Whisky commercial, and they’ve become friends since then. He also gave Felicity Jones a special chance to meet a Star Wars legend, as she shared during a recent red carpet interview.
I was honestly stunned to meet him, especially because I’d spent so much time studying his work to prepare for the role of Jyn Erso. He was a huge inspiration, particularly his performances in ‘Indiana Jones.’ I watched those films repeatedly, hoping to capture some of his natural, effortless energy for my character. It was a really special experience having our worlds connect tonight.
Felicity Jones shared a lovely story about how Harrison Ford inspired her while filming Rogue One in 2015. Although their characters, Jyn and Han Solo, never meet onscreen, Jyn’s actions are crucial to Han’s story. Her team’s sacrifice ensures the Death Star plans reach Princess Leia, and without that, Han wouldn’t have been able to become the hero we know.

At the premiere of Train Dreams, director Edgerton shared that having his friend Harrison Ford in the audience felt incredibly meaningful. He’d specifically invited Ford, believing the 83-year-old actor would relate to the film’s story about a railroad worker facing personal loss. Edgerton noted that Ford, who lives in the Wyoming wilderness, has a strong connection to the natural world.
