Danica McKellar, known for her role on The Wonder Years, recently shared that she was surprised and a little embarrassed to discover she enjoyed the taste of her placenta after giving birth.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Bobby Bones Show podcast, 51-year-old Danica McKellar openly shared her experience after giving birth, jokingly comparing her placenta to a ‘filet mignon’.
I’ll never forget when my doula asked if I wanted to try my placenta! I had just given birth, and honestly, I wasn’t thinking clearly, so I said, ‘Yeah, okay!’ It just felt like anything was possible at that moment.
She let me try some, and it was incredible. Bobby, it tasted even better than the best filet mignon I’ve ever had,” the former child star explained.
I felt silly admitting how much I enjoyed it – it was just so strange. I even caught myself wondering if it was something dark or if I was having some kind of twisted reaction. But I realized that feeling unsettled is probably the point.
The actress has a 15-year-old son named Draco from her first marriage to composer Mike Verta. She divorced Verta in 2012 and later married attorney Scott Sveslosky in 2014.

Some people think placentas have important nutrients and hormones that can help new mothers recover after giving birth.
More and more women are choosing to have their placentas encapsulated. This process involves drying and grinding the placenta into a powder, which is then put into capsules.
Although research hints at possible advantages, doctors don’t all agree on whether it truly works.
McKellar starred opposite Fred Savage on The Wonder Years which ran on ABC from 1988 to 1993.
She has also appeared in television shows like The West Wing, as well as a number of made-for-TV movies on Hallmark and Lifetime.
