Wonder Woman Returns! 11th DCU Movie Shocks Fans!
In the initial phase of DC University’s narrative saga, Gods and Monsters, an exhilarating new venture linked to a central hero has been added to the mix. During a unique event in February 2023, the joint heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, unveiled the list of upcoming movies and TV series for the DC Universe’s slate. This lineup encompasses titles such as The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Superman.
2024 saw the start of DC’s reboot on small screens with the series, “Creature Commandos”. However, it’s the big-screen adaptation of “Superman” in 2025 that will lead the DC Universe’s primary narrative. This film is expected to introduce David Corenswet as Superman, along with an intriguing ensemble of both heroes and villains.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director James Gunn confirmed that a new Wonder Woman film is being developed by DC Studios. He emphasized that this project stands as a unique entity distinct from the previously announced Paradise Lost series on HBO Max.
Gunn also shared that the script for the movie is “being written right now.”
The upcoming “Paradise Lost” series for HBO/Max is a separate project from the ongoing development of “Wonder Woman”. While the former may be progressing slowly, we are currently working on the script for “Wonder Woman”, which is currently being written.
In May 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and president David Zaslav announced a significant update about Wonder Woman, positioning her as one of the studio’s key characters alongside Superman, Supergirl, and Batman that will help build their major assets.
In their ten-year strategy for DC characters, James Gunn and Peter Safran aim to create significant value for us worldwide by focusing on key figures like Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and Supergirl. These characters are seen as major assets and unique selling points.
Announcing a new “Wonder Woman” film, it marks the 11th movie revealed for the initial chapter of DC’s “Gods & Monsters” era, with the remaining titles being:
- Superman
- Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
- Clayface
- Dynamic Duo
