The director of the original Wonder Woman movie has spoken about potentially working on projects in the new DC Universe, but it likely won’t be the Wonder Woman movie everyone expects. Gal Gadot won’t be reprising her role as Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s DCU; the character will be played by a new actress in the upcoming Wonder Woman film.
Patty Jenkins was developing a third Wonder Woman movie before the DC Universe was rebooted. While some reports said she left talks with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, Jenkins stated she realized the project couldn’t proceed. However, she might find a place within the new DCU.
Patty Jenkins Has Addressed A Possible DC Return

Patty Jenkins recently discussed a potential return to directing DC films in an interview with M.C.U.N. She was asked if she’d consider working on another Wonder Woman movie, even if Gal Gadot wasn’t involved. Jenkins said she wouldn’t rule it out, explaining, “I love Wonder Woman, so you never say never.”
While a return to DC isn’t her main focus right now, Jenkins seems content working on different kinds of projects. However, she hasn’t ruled out going back to DC altogether, and she still feels strongly about Wonder Woman, suggesting the right project could eventually bring her back to the DC Universe.
Patty Jenkins’ Best DCU Project Is Not The Wonder Woman Movie, But An HBO Series

Yes, DC is working on a new Wonder Woman movie as part of James Gunn’s DC Universe. Many fans will probably think of this film first, especially after recent comments from Patty Jenkins. However, it would be best for the character of Wonder Woman to start over with a new direction, creating a Wonder Woman separate from Gal Gadot’s portrayal.
This doesn’t mean Jenkins would have to stop working on Wonder Woman projects entirely. She’d actually be an excellent choice to direct the upcoming Paradise Lost series, a prequel focusing on the political conflicts among the Amazons of Themyscira before Diana was born. The show is expected to be similar in scope and style to HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Patty Jenkins previously developed a Wonder Woman spin-off centered on the Amazons for DC Films. Because of this experience, she’s a great fit for the Paradise Lost project, as both stories explore similar themes. This would also allow Jenkins to stay connected to the world of Wonder Woman and revisit some ideas she had for a DC project that was ultimately cancelled.
