Wolfs trailer: Brad Pitt and George Clooney trade cool banter as they try to clean up a bizarre crime scene
As a lifestyle expert with over three decades of experience in the film industry, I’ve had the privilege of watching the evolution of some of Hollywood’s most iconic duos. The trailer for Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, has me reminiscing about the days of Ocean’s Eleven and Inglourious Basterds.
The trailer for the highly anticipated movie Wolfs dropped on Wednesday morning.
For a while, wolves’ stars, George Clooney and Brad Pitt, portray adversarial troubleshooters summoned separately to address the same criminal issue in New York City.
They compete side by side as they dodge threats from the police and the Albanian mob.
Initially, these two individuals are unknown to one another, finding themselves at a shared crime location where their mutual disdain is immediately apparent. From the beginning, they exchange sharp, insulting remarks.
Wolfs – which already has a sequel in the works – will debut on Friday on Apple TV+.
Pitt and Clooney first acted together in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven.
Similarly to the remake’s homage to the Rat Pack’s original, Wolfs places just as much emphasis, if not more, on its leading actors as it does on any other aspect.
The film’s allure primarily lies in its effortless charisma and camaraderie – the subtle glances of disapproval and friendly rivalries that gradually build up until, eventually, they become friends, just as we hope they would.
Clooney is 63 and Pitt is 60, and there are few bits about back pain and Advil in the film.
However, Wolfs are built to demonstrate their ability to accomplish tasks effortlessly, even without appearing to exert much energy.
In a lavish New York hotel’s penthouse, two individuals find themselves, with one being a tenacious district attorney focused on cracking down on crime (portrayed by Amy Ryan), who is frantically seeking a way to conceal something.
A young, nearly naked man is seemingly dead on the floor.
She’s frantically searched her phone for a number once given for such emergencies.
That brings the first never-named fixer (Clooney) to the door.
Not long after, the second, also unnamed fixer (Pitt) knocks.
Following a brief spell of perplexity, he gestures towards a compact camera fixed to the ceiling. This action was prompted by instructions from the hotel proprietor, who is none other than Frances McDormand but remains unseen, wishing to avoid any negative publicity.
After learning that they needed to work as a team, the two task managers started taking steps to dispose of the corpse.
They eye each warily, disinterested in giving away any tricks of the trade.
In this scenario, it is primarily Clooney’s character who devises an innovative method for placing the body on a suitcase stand, which gradually wins over Pitt’s character’s admiration and esteem.
They turn out to have much, maybe everything, in common.
Slowly, reluctantly, they inch toward a partnership.
Outside the hotel, the film “Wolf” unfolds across a single night, capturing crisp, atmospheric scenes in the dimly-lit urban landscape of Manhattan, skillfully framed by cinematographer Larkin Seiple.
Things get a jolt when the body in question turns out to be alive, and kind of a hoot, too.
Under the alias ‘Kid’, a boy wakes up from a drugged state, swiftly donning just his underwear, and flees down the street, triggering a long pursuit by two fixers that eventually leads to the Brooklyn Bridge.
Austin Abrams (known for Euphoria and The Walking Dead) showcases an abundance of quirky charm as the character, and his narration of the events leading to this predicament from within a low-priced motel might just be the movie’s standout scene.
About Clooney and Pitt, sitting in the back of a car, dressed casually in leather jackets, he accurately describes them as “two incredibly cool individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
Already, a follow-up has been revealed. The initial installment serves as both the introduction and conclusion to a heartwarming camaraderie saga.
The film titled “Wolfs,” distributed by Apple Studios, has been given an R rating by the Motion Picture Association due to pervasive use of strong language and certain instances of violence. Its runtime is approximately 108 minutes. The movie has earned three out of four stars.
