Woke Hollywood stars unite to back fiery LA anti-ICE protests amid Trump’s crackdown on illegal migrants

Eva Longoria and Chrissy Teigen were part of a chorus of Hollywood celebrities expressing their views on social media concerning the continuous demonstrations in Los Angeles, which stemmed from ICE raids instigated by President Donald Trump.

Several stars expressed their disapproval on social media outlets like Instagram when it was announced that President Trump had deployed approximately 2000 troops from California’s National Guard to a troubled region, against the wishes of California Governor Gavin Newsom.

On her Instagram Stories, Longoria shared a tweet by Newsom where he voiced criticism towards Defense Secretary Hegseth for threatening to send active-duty marines to quell opposition against Trump’s policy.

Newsom criticized Hegseth’s actions as “disturbing” or “bizarre” conduct, while the actress from Desperate Housewives described it as “unpatriotic.

Longoria, who is known for speaking out about social matters, shared a video by singer Gloria Estefan addressing the topic. The video included clips showing a woman being separated from her child due to raids, and guidance for citizens regarding their rights relevant to the issue.

Over the tense weekend, multiple instances of violence flared up in Southern California, as reported by the Associated Press.

A dispute unfolded in the town of Paramount, situated approximately 16 miles outside of central Los Angeles, near a Home Depot store. This area saw tension between authorities and protesters, as federal officials had set up a temporary DHS office on site.

Law enforcement used tear gas, pepper spray, and explosives against demonstrators, who retaliated with rocks and chunks of concrete during some of the region’s most turbulent periods since the unrest that erupted following the verdicts on the police officers involved in the Rodney King case in April 1992.
