Winona Ryder voices her frustration about younger co-stars not caring about movies

Winona Ryder voices her frustration about younger co-stars not caring about movies

As a seasoned actress who began my journey in Hollywood at the tender age of 15, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and longing for the passion that once filled the sets I used to dominate. The current generation of teenage actors leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, there are gems like Finn Wolfhard who share my love for cinema. On the other, some seem more interested in the duration rather than the art itself.

Winona Ryder embarked on her acting journey during her teen years in the mid-1980s, but she isn’t entirely satisfied with the present crop of young actors who work alongside her.

At the age of 52, this actress first appeared in a major film titled “Lucas” back in 1986, when she was only 15 years old. Two years later, in 1988, she starred as Lydia Deetz in the movie “Beetlejuice,” which was her role at age 17.

During an interview with The Los Angeles Times about the highly anticipated Beetlejuice sequel, Ryder expressed feelings of annoyance towards certain young cast members recently.

Ryder shared that he doesn’t intend to come off as pessimistic, but there are some individuals who aren’t particularly fond of movies. In fact, their immediate response is usually something along the lines of, “How long does it last?”

She didn’t point out any particular actors who felt the same way, but she did highlight a young counterpart with similar spirits.

It appears that Finn Wolfhard, who stars alongside her in Stranger Things, is said to be deeply fascinated by Elliot Gould, while it seems that many of his younger co-stars haven’t developed the same level of enthusiasm for cinema.

In an interview with Esquire, Ryder confessed that she has transitioned from being the most youthful individual on set to being the eldest.

Ryder acknowledged that social media has significantly altered things, and he understands if he comes off as outdated.

She playfully remarked, “I wonder if I’ve become a bit old-fashioned, like a vaudeville act perhaps? You know, something like an elderly lady saying, ‘Could you please lower the volume?'”

She expressed her belief that there was simply a wealth of resources: the chronicles of cinema and photography, which are incredibly comprehensive, and there’s so much to explore. She doesn’t suggest going back in time, but rather hopes that future generations will delve into this rich history.

In her conversation, she didn’t explicitly name her young colleagues who may not be fond of the movies, but Millie Bobby Brown, our 20-year-old colleague, shared similar sentiments during an interview with The Sun that quickly became popular online.

According to Brown, people often tell him, “This film is a must-watch; it could have a profound impact on you.”

She confessed, “I find myself asking, ‘For how long must I stay seated?’ Since neither me nor my mind enjoy sitting through films I’ve made.”

The actress mentioned that her spouse, Jake Bongiovi, is an avid film enthusiast, often spending his entire day engrossed in films.

She confessed, “I’m unable to accomplish that task. It’s the one thing I just can’t settle down and do. However, I have a soft spot for Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, as well as Mad Max. So it seems like I’m always tapping into my inner tough spirit.”

She added that sh can’t believe it’s been a full decade since she started filming the huge Netflix hit Stranger Things.

10 years ago, I never imagined myself in this role at this stage of my life. I remember thinking, “I don’t want to be doing this when I’m in my fifties!” It’s hard to believe, and it’s even more surprising given my age. However, I have a deep affection for the young actors, Sadie Sink and Maya Hawke. Overall, it has been an incredibly enjoyable experience. (She said this.)
