Winner of Netflix’s ‘Outlast’ arrested on suspicion of child rape, sexual battery charges

I was shocked to learn that the very first winner of Netflix’s “Outlast” is now facing incredibly serious allegations – charges of child rape and sexual battery. It’s a truly disturbing turn of events, and a stark reminder that winning a reality show doesn’t define a person’s character, and that deeply troubling behavior can hide behind any facade.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn that Paul Preece Jr., a champion from the very first season of the series in 2023, was arrested in Tennessee on Friday. According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the charges against him are incredibly serious – aggravated sexual battery, rape of a child, and attempted rape of a child. I reached out to Mr. Preece for a response on Monday, but haven’t heard back yet. It’s just a terrible situation.

A new lawsuit alleges that Michael Jackson sexually abused four children from the Cascio family, claiming he groomed, drugged, and assaulted them. Lawyers for Jackson’s estate have dismissed the suit as an attempt to get money.

Preece’s bail was set at $150,000 by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for his arraignment.

In 2023, Chris Preece competed on Netflix’s “Outlast,” where sixteen contestants faced the challenging Alaskan wilderness for a $1 million prize. According to Netflix’s Tudum site, Preece, from Tennessee, is an experienced hunter and fisherman who enjoys sharing his outdoor skills with young and new hunters. He previously mentioned that growing up facing homelessness in eastern Kentucky helped him develop the skills needed to survive in difficult situations.

Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence by the California Highway Patrol. Her representative described the incident as ‘completely unacceptable.’

He said he expects Alaska to present a huge challenge, but feels he’s been preparing for it his whole life without even realizing it.

Preece, along with fellow competitors Nick Radner and Seth Lueker, won the first season of “Outlast” and shared the prize money. The show returned for a second season in 2024, and was quickly renewed for a third in February 2025.
