Will Stephen and Lucy get back together in Tell Me Lies season 2?
As a fan who’s been through the emotional rollercoaster that is Tell Me Lies, I can confidently say that I see the writing on the wall – and it spells S-T-E-P-H-E-N & L-U-C-Y. After watching episode 6, “Do Your Dirty Words Come Out to Play?”, I’m convinced Lucy and Stephen are destined for a reunion. Their tumultuous past, coupled with their undeniable connection, seems too powerful to ignore.
If you’ve finished up with season 2 of “Tell Me Lies” and have seen episode 6 titled “Do Your Dirty Words Come Out to Play?” on Hulu, you might be wondering along with me: Will Stephen and Lucy reconcile in “Tell Me Lies” season 2?
It’s still unclear what will happen in the end, but given the direction of the story, it seems likely that Stephen and Lucy might reconcile. The reason I say this is because Lucy and Leo have split up, and Stephen was the one who stirred the pot by encouraging their disagreement, causing everyone to miss out on enjoying Thanksgiving together.
In the latest episode, it appears that Diana’s poor LSAT score and the subsequent strain on her relationship with her father have caused stress in her life, disrupting her plans with Stephen. This tension seems to be bringing out a negative side of Stephen, as he has become rude, toxic, and is unfairly blaming Diana for their misfortunes. This behavior could potentially lead him to seek solace elsewhere, perhaps even returning to an old flame like Lucy.
What’s intriguing about their potential reunion is two encounters between Lucy and Stephen, occurring in different timeframes. At Baird College following the disastrous Thanksgiving, an emotional Lucy confronts Stephen, claiming victory over their ongoing dispute. Despite his flaws, she admits to still loving him. Consequently, she questions Stephen, “Why are you inflicting punishment on me for my love?
In essence, Stephen appears indifferent to others’ opinions, but secretly cares deeply as shown when Evan points this out. Lucy’s words seem to strike a chord, suggesting she still harbors feelings for him. Fast forward to 2015, Lucy is in a relationship and Stephen is engaged to Lydia. However, Lucy intentionally arranges a meeting with Stephen at the pool, positioning herself so he could accidentally witness her having sex with her boyfriend there, effectively giving him quite the spectacle.
Is it possible for them to reunite in 2015 too? It’s plausible. Even though they aren’t dating at present, there’s a chance they might restart their tumultuous relationship while attending college and later separate again. The series suggests that Stephen and Lucy have been involved in a long-term toxic relationship that significantly impacts their lives and those around them. I wouldn’t be shocked if they rekindled their romance in at least one of the timelines, or even both.
This would be a horrible idea on Lucy’s part! She’s been doing so good this year to try and get her grades up, focus on school, and had a good thing going with Leo overall before it was ruined. So if she isn’t strong enough to resist Stephen once again, I think it’s going to be such a huge mistake. I’m so nervous because she deserves better. Stephen is just so, ugh. I can’t stand him. With only two episodes left of Tell Me Lies season 2, we’ll find out soon how it all plays out. What do you think will happen?
