Will Smith’s 2016 flop is now available to watch on Prime Video
As a film enthusiast who has weathered countless cinematic storms, I must say that my journey through life has taught me to appreciate the beauty in unexpected places – even within films that may initially seem like collateral damage. Such is the case with Will Smith’s “Collateral Beauty.
I was thrilled to discover that “Collateral Beauty,” the film that didn’t quite hit the mark for many fans like me, including myself, is now available on Prime Video in both the UK and Ireland!
2016’s blockbuster movie features Will Smith in the leading role of Howard Inlet, a thriving New York ad agency head, who is later diagnosed with depression following the tragic death of his little girl.
First, his three former associates in both friendship and business engage a private detective to uncover evidence that he is no longer capable of managing the company. This situation prompts a profound contemplation on loss, as portrayed by three struggling performers who symbolize Love, Time, and Death. Over time, these actors interact with Howard’s friends, aiding them in healing their wounds.
In the fantasy drama directed by David Frankel, it appears that many events are unfolding, and indeed, they are.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excited to share that in this captivating story, I find myself alongside acting greats like Kate Winslet, Edward Norton, and Michael Peña, who embody the roles of Howard’s three friends. On the other side, we have the talented trio of Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, and Jacob Latimore gracing our screens. Ann Dowd steps into the intriguing character of a private detective, while Naomie Harris breathes life into a woman that Howard befriends at a support group for those dealing with loss.
Even with the impressive acting talent of this high-profile ensemble, the movie failed to impress, earning just a 13% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Although the audience appeared to enjoy it with a score of 64%, its performance at the domestic box office was less than stellar.
In the United States and Canada, it brought in $31 million, compared to its production cost of $36 million. However, in other regions, it made an additional $57.2 million, resulting in a worldwide total of $88.2 million at the box office.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, you can now stream Collateral Beauty on Prime Video. For those in the U.S., the movie can be found on Amazon Video and Apple TV.
