Will Smith isn’t starring in new Matrix movie despite cryptic post
Will Smith will not be joining the next Matrix movie after all, despite speculation.
In a cryptic latest update, the actor sparked intense speculation when he posted about the famous sci-fi series, using its distinctive font, and narrated the widely recognized tale of his rejection of the part of Neo in the 1999 film.
In 1997, the Wachowskis proposed that Will Smith play the role of Neo in “The Matrix”. However, he declined the offer and instead opted for “Wild Wild West”, as he felt it was more suitable for his career path at the moment.
However, the query persists: How might “The Matrix” have unfolded if Will Smith was Neo instead? Awake, Will… The Matrix is holding you captive… This wraps up the post.
On the contrary, The Hollywood Reporter states that Smith will not participate in the upcoming fifth installment of the franchise, with Drew Goddard, director of “The Martian,” leading the project instead.
Eventually, the character of Neo was taken on by Keanu Reeves, who portrayed him in three subsequent films. On the other hand, the film “Wild Wild West” failed both critically and financially.
Next year, a new Matrix film is set to release, marking the first time in the series that someone other than the Wachowski sisters will direct it. However, Lana Wachowski is still involved as an executive producer.
In his own words, Goddard expressed that it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to claim that the Matrix films not only transformed cinema but also significantly impacted his life. He continually finds inspiration from Lana and Lilly’s exceptional creativity, and he is deeply thankful for the opportunity to craft tales within their universe.
For now, specifics about who’ll be cast and if any of the initial actors might reappear are being kept secret.
You can either rent or purchase “The Matrix Resurrections” on platforms like Amazon, Microsoft Store, iTunes, and various other digital marketplaces.
