Will Reeve of ABC News, Christopher Reeve’s son, has a cameo in new ‘Superman’ movie

As a movie critic with a deep appreciation for the rich history of superhero films and the iconic role of Superman in particular, I am thrilled to learn that Will Reeve, son of the late Christopher Reeve, is making a cameo appearance in James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman: Legacy.”

As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll have the privilege of making a special appearance in James Gunn’s highly-anticipated “Superman: Legacy.” Currently under production in Cleveland, this exciting project brings me back to my roots since I’m the son of the legendary Christopher Reeve, who donned the iconic Superman cape.

According to Cleveland.com, the ABC News correspondent, aged 32, was spotted shooting a movie scene on Tuesday morning.

In an intriguing turn of events, Deadline announced that Reeve portrays a TV journalist on screen. This role suits him perfectly, given his background as a journalist for ABC News in real life. He is the youngest among their three offspring and the sole child born to Christopher Reeve and his widow, Dana Reeve.

Christopher Reeve is well-known for bringing Superman to life in Richard Donner’s 1978 film “Superman: The Movie.” Following this role, he went on to star as the beloved superhero in three subsequent movies: “Superman II” (1980), “Superman III” (1983), and “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” (1987).

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be directing an upcoming movie myself, penned from my original screenplay. This project, set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, through DC Studios, is deeply rooted in characters brought to life by the legendary creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The anticipation is building!

The Reeve clan has kept a robust link to Christopher Reeve’s enduring legacy. Specifically, Will Reeve is an active member on the board of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which focuses on researching spinal cord injuries. Tragically, Christopher Reeve passed away in 2004 at age 52 following a paralyzing equestrian accident in 1995. Nevertheless, his influence continues to resonate profoundly within the entertainment sector and disability rights advocacy.

In an exciting update for the upcoming “Superman” production, the newly announced cast consists of David Corenswet portraying Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult taking on the role of Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan bringing Metamorpho to life, Edi Gathegi embodying Mister Terrific, and Isabela Merced portraying Hawkgirl. Milly Alcock, known for her role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in “House of the Dragon,” joins the team by assuming the character of Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl.

Henry Cavill, the actor behind Superman in “Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Justice League,” relinquished his role in “The Witcher” to rejoin the DC universe franchise. However, in 2022, he lost the Superman part following the appointment of Gunn and Safran as heads of DC Studios for Warner Bros. Discovery.

In a statement made in December, Cavill spoke about his unexpected departure from the studio, which was announced back in October before he was hired. He acknowledged the difficulty of the situation but accepted that change is a natural part of life. He expressed respect for James and Peter as they build their new universe, wishing them success and good fortune.
