Will Jeff Bezos buy Vogue magazine as a wedding present for new bride Lauren?

Fashion ‘bible’ Vogue could soon be owned by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, sources say.

There’s speculation among employees that the world’s fourth-wealthiest man is planning to acquire parent company Conde Nast as a wedding present for his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez – a previous journalist.

It’s not unexpected to some people that the current Mrs. Bezos, who is the featured cover star for this month’s digital Vogue magazine, donned a custom-selected Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress on its pages, courtesy of Dame Anna Wintour.

Last month, Dame Anna declared that she would be relinquishing her position as Vogue Editor-in-Chief following a tenure of 37 years. However, she will continue to oversee global operations.

Dame Anna recently announced that she is stepping down from her role as Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief after holding the position for 37 years. Nevertheless, she will maintain control of the magazine’s worldwide operations.

The Newhouse family, who have been in possession of Conde Nast since 1959 and keep it as part of their media conglomerate Advance Publications, firmly declare that their publications are not up for sale. Last night, a confidant of Mr. Bezos stated emphatically that the rumors about him contemplating the purchase of Conde Nast were entirely false.

However, following the wave of job cuts worldwide, Vogue’s UK team currently working in a dull WeWork office close to Waterloo station (after their Hanover Square headquarters were sold), not all are completely optimistic about the change.

According to a source, there’s a lot of buzz in both the fashion world and within Vogue about the speculation that Jeff might acquire Conde Nast.

‘Lauren Sanchez, an unexpected choice, has become the cover star for the July issue, allegedly due to the Newhouse family trying to win over Bezos. In New York, it’s rumored that they are reducing their business, which is common practice before a sale.’

The original article stated: ‘Anna is reportedly arranging the agreement, which explains why Lauren graces the magazine cover. Since Anna owns a stake in the company, she stands to benefit significantly from a sale.’ Jeff Bezos has experience in publishing. In 2013, he purchased The Washington Post for $250 million in cash, marking the end of the Graham family’s four-generation control over the newspaper.

Here’s another way to phrase it: ‘Another report stated that he’s among the select few who are financially well-off. Moreover, Lauren isn’t shallow. Instead, she’s quite intelligent. It’s been mentioned that there were discussions held.’

It is being speculated that some important event may be happening soon, based on certain signs. Recently, Natalia Gamero Del Castillo, who manages Vogue’s European operations, has been absent from work for a week. This has led her colleagues to believe she might have resigned or could be one of the casualties in the ongoing global layoff process.

The source stated: ‘Nearly every week, layoffs have occurred in both Europe and New York, as well as the UK. This trend is part of an effort to standardize the structure of all publications worldwide, ensuring consistency across all titles.’

Anna stood out as an exception since she was the last Editor-in-Chief remaining among publications such as GQ, Glamour, and Vanity Fair, all of which have their own Global Editorial Directors. Consequently, she had to relinquish her title.

It seems that she didn’t appear very enthusiastic about it, but she went along with it, likely due to her awareness of the impending sale by the company. Despite losing her position as Editor-in-Chief, she still wields significant influence, however, that specific title is no longer hers.

They are simplifying every aspect of the business. We might be facing closure or a sale, but there’s definitely some secret in the air, and everyone seems to be discussing Jeff Bezos lately.

75-year-old Anna, who stepped down from her position on June 27, is renowned for having inspired the creators of the movie “The Devil Wears Prada.”
