Will Gwyneth Paltrow’s Daughter Apple Follow in Her Footsteps to Hollywood Stardom?

Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter Apple Martin has given her first magazine interview.

20-year-old college student engaged in conversation with Interview magazine, a place where she previously worked as an intern, during a photo shoot featuring upscale clothing.

As a student at Vanderbilt University in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, I find myself pondering over my aspirations. While I might follow in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother, who are both accomplished actors, my future plans aren’t set in stone yet. Acting could very well be a part of it, but there’s still much to explore and discover about my own path in the world of entertainment.

However, she is already acting in the school play where she has to sing.

She shared with Mel Ottenberg that this semester, she’s part of the exceptional Vanderbilt Original Cast, our renowned cabaret theater group. Our current production is a comical reinterpretation of Love Island titled “Love on an Island,” and it’s simply fantastic! The tunes for this show are absolutely outstanding.

Drama is not one of her majors, though.

The Los Angeles native, who is studying law, history, and society, expressed that they wished they had taken a theater course during their studies but might still do so before graduating. They find it enjoyable to have such a diverse balance between their academic major and extracurricular activities in the performing arts.

When asked, “Does ‘Love on an Island’ or ‘law and history’ suggest that you’re uncertain about your life’s path?”, Apple answered: “Well, initially, I considered becoming a lawyer because I loved acting. However, I was hesitant and anxious, so I thought, ‘If I become a lawyer, I can act on stage during trials.’

‘It’s insane that I thought that.

As much as I’d love to emulate Elle Woods, let me tell you, it’s more challenging than it seems. I can’t even begin to imagine how she pulled off attending law school each day while maintaining such a stylish and fabulous image. [Laughs]

‘But I love history. I love true crime. I love investigating.

Apart from finding it intriguing to explore the historical aspects of law and applying them in contemporary settings, if I were to become a lawyer, my main objective would undeniably be to assist people. This, in essence, seems to be the most significant aspect for me.

When inquired about whether she aspires to be a movie actress similar to her Academy Award-winning mother, Apple openly shared that her passion lies within the realm of theater instead.

She shared that her deep passion for theater is what drives her, mentioning that she hasn’t ventured into film yet but has been striving to be part of student-made movies. In essence, she identified herself as someone who was naturally inclined towards theater, saying, “I guess you could say I’m a born theater enthusiast.

Through being a member of the Vanderbilt Original Cast, Apple has had the opportunity to display her exceptional vocal talents uniquely.

As someone who possesses a deep, resonant voice, when we harmonize, it feels akin to ‘Okay, that’s the men and the high notes,’ I chuckled as I said this. This academic term, I’ve been given the delightful task of singing my all-time favorite song, which has me absolutely thrilled!

‘I’m definitely not the best in the org, but I love it.’

Additionally, she spoke up regarding the distressing comments she faced after last year’s ‘unpleasant’ incident often referred to as the ‘mean girls’ situation.

She was asked if she ever reads ‘upsetting stuff’ about herself on the internet.

In November 2024, Apple found herself at the center of a storm when footage of her behaving unkindly at the prestigious Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris spread rapidly online.

At the exclusive gathering in November, Apple, backed by her influential parents, was allegedly taking the limelight away from a different girl who was having her photo taken, causing a stir with the accusation of “hogging the attention.

Although someone near Gwyneth claimed the situation was misunderstood, many viewers harshly criticized Apple, as the video spread rapidly on TikTok and Instagram.

In yesterday’s conversation, Apple didn’t explicitly mention the controversy surrounding the debutante ball, but she did address the ‘wild rumors’ that have been spread about her on the internet.

Since her Paris Fashion Week debut at Chanel in January 2023, she’s been steering clear of reading social media comments, much like one would avoid a pestilence. She told Ottenberg this.

Following the Chanel fashion show, I encountered some distressing remarks. It then dawned on me why people have consistently advised against it – despite seeing numerous good comments, there’s always that one comment that can bring you down significantly,” the up-and-coming talent elaborated.

Online response to her appearance at the Chanel event was diverse, featuring both admiration for her striking resemblance to Apple and criticism labeling her as a product of nepotism.

She confessed that encountering harmful comments about herself significantly affected her emotional health negatively.

As a lifestyle expert, let me share a personal insight: I’ve learned the hard way to steer clear of misleading or distressing information because my emotional response can sometimes be intense. When I encounter such content, I might find myself thinking, “Wow, I should probably stay indoors forever.” It’s not worth risking that kind of reaction for me.

Currently, Apple embraces the advantages that come with being under the spotlight while also acknowledging and adapting to its potential drawbacks.

She stated, “I understand that people may say things, and that’s acceptable. There will be instances where information is untrue or distressing, but my only course of action is to strive to be my best self, surround myself with loved ones, and avoid getting caught up in baseless, wild speculations.

Each year at the Shangri-La in Paris, The Debutante Ball occurs, a grand event where young ladies from esteemed and affluent European, Asian, African, and American families are invited to formally enter high society for the first time.

I donned a striking sky-blue Valentino Haute Couture dress at the ball, accompanied by my charming escort, Count Leo Henckel von Donnersmarck. Later, I rejoined my family – Gwyneth and Chris Martin, who parted ways in 2016 – to celebrate together.

Over the weekend, Apple faced allegations similar to those from schoolyard bullies when she seemed to be attempting to upstage Aliénor Loppin de Montmort, her fellow debutante, in a widely-shared video of them posing for pictures together.

In the video, Montmort was caught on camera while striking a pose, then suddenly Apple emerged and strutted into the frame.

The backlash was so intense that Montmort came forward to defend Apple.

She firmly believed that Apple was an exceptionally kind person, and felt that she should not have received even a small fraction of the negativity she encountered online.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Apple’s mother, has finally spoken up about the topic, revealing to Vanity Fair that her daughter has always felt apprehensive about being under the public spotlight.
