Will Final Destination: Bloodlines Get a Sequel? Producer Jon Watts Hints at Possibility

It’s likely that nobody anticipated such a strong impact from Death, as it made its unexpected appearance on the 2025 movie schedule for “Final Destination: Bloodlines.” This isn’t meant to be a grim remark, but instead is a way of expressing that the film’s incredible box office performance was an unforeseen development, even for dedicated fans.

Indeed, many fans have been eagerly awaiting news about a continuation, despite the grim ending. Interestingly, Bloodlines producer and previous Spider-Man director Jon Watts shared his thoughts on this topic, which will undoubtedly resonate with long-time enthusiasts of these films.

I Love How Jon Watts Confirms He’s Up For More Final Destination Sequels

The developer of “Bloodlines” co-story was recently seen at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Malta, where he participated in a Masterclass interview. Hollywood Reporter was present to witness this discussion. In the conversation, the question about whether we can expect more from New Line Cinema’s revitalized franchise naturally came up. And that’s when the director of “Wolfs” expressed his excitement with the following reply:

I’ve long been an ardent admirer of the Final Destination series. These films have always captivated me in a genuine way. In fact, I can’t help but imagine potential new plotlines for the franchise, regardless of where I am.

Could it be that Jon Watts occasionally casts a wary glance at his shower, especially the retractable clothesline – a chilling reminder of one of the most striking deaths in Final Destination? Or perhaps he too finds himself unsettled by the gruesome scenes from the first sequel involving the log truck. It’s worth considering if he’s been using his HBO Max account to revisit past films, hoping to find fresh ideas or safety measures for his own projects?

With an HBO Max subscription, you won’t find the elusive Death’s Plan, but you’ll have the opportunity to stream the entire six-film series of Final Destination at your convenience – effectively a similar experience. For just $9.99 per month (with ads), and various premium tier upgrades available, delving back into these past events becomes effortless. This could also serve as a prelude to what I’ll propose later in our conversation. Check it out here! Deal Available

Regardless, a genuine fan of the Jeffrey Reddick-created series is easily identifiable by their perspective on life, and without a doubt, Mr. Watts fits that description perfectly. Furthermore, I’m confident he would concur with me that if another installment is in the works, there’s already an essential component ready to bring it to life.

Final Destination Bloodlines’ Scrapped Cameo Is The Perfect Launchpad For The Next Sequel

From the movie “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” there’s one key point we shouldn’t miss: Death never lets go of its debt. Moreover, an intriguing hidden reference in Tony Todd’s poignant last scene hints at more gruesome excitement potentially lasting for a while.

In an interview with ScreenRant, co-director Zach Lipovsky disclosed that Kimberly Corman from Final Destination 2 (played by A.J. Cook) was initially intended to serve as a gateway for a cameo appearance by one of the few individuals who survived Death’s plot. However, this idea was later scrapped before filming, and Lipovsky explained how it would have unfolded if included:

[In the original script] Kimberly Corman’s character would have played a pivotal role in bringing back one of the characters who had cheated death, providing an exciting connection to the previous films. This plot twist was unfortunately not realized on screen.

Initially, the manuscript we reviewed depicted them discovering Bludworth, who subsequently discussed Kimberly’s resurrection. He then announced her presence, opened a door, and she emerged. It gave the impression that perhaps she had been concealed within that room throughout the entire period.

It seems to me and perhaps others as well that there’s a chance right before our eyes. Kimberly Corman appears to be a strong candidate for William Bludworth’s successor in this series, given that her initial cameo could have developed into an apprenticeship role in later edits.

As a cinephile, I must say that it’s surprising how Death chose to revisit the unfinished business from the opening scene of Final Destination: Bloodline, especially given the 4DX experience. One would expect Death to be moving on to new, untouched cases. But even in Final Destination 2, we had Clear Rivers (Ali Larter) returning to ensure that potential victims could outmaneuver the Grim Reaper once more.

With Zach Lipovsky himself suggesting that this concept could potentially succeed in the future, it’s not too far-fetched to imagine the connection. In essence, much like our late Mr. Bludworth, Ms. Corman would make an ideal new advisor to guide stunningly youthful individuals away from their untimely demise. Apologies for the brief detour into thoughts of Charli XCX’s intriguing pitch for Final Destination, but the core idea remains valid.

Jon Watts is eager for more creative ventures, and based on our review of “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” it seems fans are equally excited. The only thing left to happen is for the project to be approved, and for Death to hone its scythe in preparation. In the meantime, you can revisit past installments of this ominous series on HBO Max, with “Bloodlines” now available on PVOD for rental or purchase.
