Will Archer & Asher Co-Parent Their Baby in Chicago Med Season 11?
Following the shocking finale of Chicago Med season 10, Steven Weber has shared his insights about the episode and potential developments for his character, Dean Archer, and Hannah Asher if they are indeed expecting a child together. In the final episode of Chicago Med season 10, Asher accepted the stunning revelation that she was pregnant. Initially, fans speculated that Mitch Ripley could be the father of Asher’s baby due to their relationship spanning most of season 10. However, the season finale concluded with Asher appearing at Archer’s doorstep, suggesting that he may in fact be the baby’s father.
In a conversation with Deadline during the ATX Television Festival, Weber discussed the future of his character on Chicago Med for season 11. He couldn’t help but touch upon the shocking cliffhanger from season 10. Weber hinted that “it seems quite possible that Archer is the father” of Asher’s child, though he didn’t provide a definite answer. However, Weber speculated on how his character might react if he were to father the baby, and how Archer and Asher would navigate a co-parenting situation. Here’s what Weber had to say about it:
“It appears that Archer may be the father of Asher’s child, but I can’t confirm that just yet. As an older man, I think my character would feel a mix of emotions if he were to father this baby. Navigating co-parenting with Asher would certainly be interesting.
Deadline: Do you believe Archer will have any hesitation in wanting to be an older parent?
Steven Weber: By the time this child is born, he would either be 64 or 65 years old. Despite being in excellent health, there’s always a risk of an accident that could result in injury. This topic often sparks debate about older parents, especially fathers, who may not have as many years left but offer a unique wisdom and affection that younger parents might lack. My friend, who is an older father, experiences this dilemma. On one hand, he may not be around for long, but on the other, his maturity and affection make him a special kind of parent. It’s a balancing act. This concern seems to cross his mind, yet he also experiences emotions for Hannah that he hasn’t felt in years – a profound connection centered around vulnerability and a sense of security. This bond could inspire him to be an involved parent, as it boosts his self-confidence, which has been significantly influenced by Hannah.
Given that their relationship isn’t based on romance, might Archer and Asher choose to raise the child together as coparents instead?
Weber’s Viewpoint: I lean towards a shared parenting approach here. They both seem to understand their own capabilities and limitations. Given Hannah’s struggles with her sister’s infertility and past issues with parenting, it would be beneficial for him to defer to her leadership. This might help alleviate some of the emotional burdens she carries, particularly regarding her sister and her own upbringing experiences. I see this as a collaborative parenting situation, but always remember, circumstances can change.
What Steven Weber’s Comments Mean For Archer & Asher In Chicago Med Season 11
Is Archer Actually The Father Of Asher’s Baby?
In the TV series Chicago Med, although Weber didn’t explicitly state that Archer is the father of Asher’s baby, it seems quite clear. However, the situation might evolve in season 11. For now, it’s reasonable to conclude that Archer is indeed the baby’s father. Despite their one-time romantic fling, Weber makes it clear that Archer doesn’t have romantic feelings for Asher, so don’t hold your breath for an Archer and Asher romance (for those who root for them).
In the premiere of Chicago Med season 11, it seems that fans might not witness a romantic involvement between Archer and Asher. Instead, as suggested by Weber, they may primarily function as co-parents. Although anything can change, their relationship currently seems to be platonic as they prepare to handle this fresh chapter together.
Our Take On Archer & Asher’s Future In Chicago Med Season 11
Archer & Asher Will Have A Strong Connection No Matter What
Despite Archer being Asher’s baby’s father, and choosing to maintain a friendly co-parenting relationship, the bond between these two characters on Chicago Med will remain unbreakable. They boast one of the strongest connections in the One Chicago series. The arrival of a new family member might present challenges, but their relationship should endure. As we move forward, expect their storyline to be filled with difficulties; however, it’s safe to assume that their connection will prove resilient. The upcoming season 11 of Chicago Med will likely unravel the complexities of their situation, although only time will reveal the specifics.
Chicago Med’s eleventh season is set to debut in the autumn of 2025. You can catch the latest episodes every Wednesday at 8 pm Eastern Time on NBC. This will be followed by Chicago Fire’s fourteenth season and Chicago PD’s thirteenth season.
